This helped so much!! I was on the verge of putting our Dodge Ram up for sale when we had our son because I didn't think pickup trucks had LATCH systems. I went in today and read the trucks manual and followed it best I could and double checked with this video and it worked so well! I'm so glad I didn't give up haha.

This is good to know. I didnt know what thise tabs were for, thought it was to pull seat down but rear seat does not go down. I used a ratchet tie down to secure the top of seat to head rests. I wondered if there was a latch anchor behind the seat. 2017 Ram 3500 SRW

does this also apply to a 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 Extended Cab for front facing 3 kids? my truck also had 3 hoops on each seat just that my truck didn't come with the manual I bought it used and I Google the manual but it doesn't show how to top tether 3 forward facing seats :-/

regarding safety is it better for rear facing to be on the side near the windows or in the center ?

This is the most ridiculous system. The tether on fabric straps?!? Nevertheless, thank you for walking me through it. My father in law's truck only had the single cab metal bracket instructions.

You do understand that the tether is made of fabric too right? The fact that it's fabric doesn't mean it's weak. I'll admit it's a weird system though, but it surely follows security standards if it got approved

Hi MOPAR, I’m confused, we went to install the tether and there’s the loops then below on the back wall are tether hooks according to the manual, u-shaped metal ones like the metal anchors that the tether attaches to in my SUV. So we routed the tether through the loop to that lower anchor to the left of the seat below the tether loop. This is what seemed safest. I am just confused as to why those are labeled in the manual under restraint installation information when this video is showing the install to be through one tether loop and hooked on to another. If someone could please clarify. Child safety should not be this complicated, my husband and I are both college educated individuals and find the Manual and consequently this video to be contradictory and confusing to the average consumer. Please clarify at your earliest convenience please.

So question my ram has metal anchors up top why would I want to latch it to the strap wouldn't I want to hook to the metal ring?

If you have metal ring inside the loop, you want to attach to that as opposed to the fabric loop itself, as per your owners manual. (Cpst)

Ms. Aldana I believe there is really no safe way to fowars face in a vehicle with no top tethers, but if Im not mistaken you can take your car to the dealership and have them installed. I could be wrong though

This don't look safe to me I know when climbing you can not have two rops rubbing against each other because thay will cut each other they really need to modify this system. Because running the stap though the loop could cut it if enuff forces are applied.

The top tether is to stop forward movement of the top part of the seat, it doesn't take the full force of the seat/child in a crash. The seat belt or the lower anchors are what hold the seat in and take the majority of the crash forces.

A car seat specialist needs to get in touch with Dodge, because this is inconvenient and ridiculous. You’re not suppose to bend/fold any of the straps to a car seat, and weaving them from the top of one seat and over to the middle is definitely folding/bending them. Just brought our 2011 home and after installing two, I now have a bone to pick with dodge >:(
