If you need to adjust the bottom clip from the forward to rear position or vice versa, BEFORE putting the car seat in, put the seat into most reclined position, this will give you the easiest access to the hole and metal stopper to move the clip. When I install seats forward facing: Place car seat into seat, adjust recline hook rear tether in, do not tighten, should be very loose raise back rest high (easier access to belt path) put car seatbelt through path (take some belt out then hold excess belt in one hand then thread buckle through guide holes using other hand, it's easier) remove any slack from seat belt lock seat belt and tighten (I do a push pull method with both hands, pushing/feeding bottom belt, pulling top back towards you) readjust back rest to proper height tighten the rear tether.

Regarding the last part, I believe if your kids weighs more than 40 lbs you have to use car seat belt. If your kid weights less than 40lbs you can use the latch. You cannot use both at the same time.

I noticed you said 2 OR 22 pounds. Children need to rear face till 2 even if they are already 22 pounds :) Ideally children should rear face till they max out of the rear facing height and weight as long as they are over 2. Very informative and well made video

You are incorrect. Via the doctors office and local fire departments here in Washington state once they are 22lbs and a certain height its recommended to forward face them. My son is 34” tall at 18 months at 28lbs its no longer safe for him to rear face as he could break his pelvic floor if in an accident.

@@laithal-mansuri9003 I am a CPST, you are incorrect. Doctors are almost never up to date with current national highway safety standards. If at all. And not all fire departments are clear on car seat safety either; only CPST’s. There are lots of car seats on the market to accompany children of higher weights and heights; at 18 months a child’s bones are not fused completely. Internal decapitation is at an incredibly high risk for a child that young. When measuring for height put your child’s bottom on the floor and measure his bottom to top of his head for car seat height limits. Graco extend2fit I’d a favorite due to its high rear facing limits of 50 pounds and 49 inches, which even for a 99 percentile child is an average of 5 years old. Never listen to pediatricians for car seat technician related inquiries. And just because it’s a fire station does not mean they’re car seat certified. Also, there is absolutely no evidence that rear facing till you max out the seat limits causes pelvic floor injury? As long as the seat is used within the limits and the crotch buckle is properly placed your child’s pelvic floor will remain comfortable and unharmed. I’d find a new pediatrician ASAP.

To get that latch strap up the metal bar so it lays flat you have to remove the seat back padding to get to the Belt Lock off and you can easily move the latch strap up. I found a KZbin installation video on an older model to explain this no one else mentions it.
