1.30 in the morning. Looking through games in the Skilling Open. Come across Nakamura - Firouzja, round 14. Looks amazing, how can I understand this game better I think to myself. Wonder what Daniel King has chosen to comment on today is my next thought. I check it out and it's this game. Posted 13 minutes ago... Thank you Danny!

You called the cluster of pawns on c3,c4 and d4 a pawn constellation. Missing the opportunity to lay claim to a portmanteau I rather like. A pawnstellation.

Wow... even though that queen sac didn't lead to mate, the dominance of Nakamura's knight once the dust settled for the endgame was amazing. In the heart of the opponent's position, stopping Alireza's knight, king and pawns from moving all at once. I hate it when I get down to an equal-material endgame and then realise just how good the opponent's pieces are... and it happens often! Hindsight is 20/20.

Great video, pleas analyzed the game Nakamura vs Kramnik, Chess Olympiad Istanbul, rd 9, Sept 6, 2012. In this game Hikaru handled wonderfully his knights as well, the ending is from another planet.

Probably one of, if not Naka's best game. Just how that queen sac didn't lead to a direct win, but how he had to be precise for the win. That knight at the end was worthy of an immortal.

You are not being rude at all, and I am aware of how it ought to be pronounced in Norwegian: I have successfully ordered reinkjøtt in Norway and I know how to pronounce the name of Manchester United's manager! But the Norwegian presenter of the event says the anglicised 'Skilling', and I am going with that. I have made my choice, and it isn't out of (complete) ignorance.
