@@PowerPlayChess I spent quite a lot of time on 25.Qb3 as at that moment I was trying to figure out if the idea with h5-h6 works or should I trade the queens and play an endgame.

And thanks to Anna and Daniel, many amateurs will have felt the excitement of spotting 27.h5! and 31.Qd4! In both cases, after a few minutes' thought I almost gave up, but then the light suddenly struck :)

Wow! If this game should win, you certainly won’t hear any protests from me! But of course I’m looking forward to all the other worthy candidate games, that will no doubt appear on this wonderful channel. And since this is the Christmas month, I think I’ll give a little present on paypal as a thank you for all the presents in the form of fascinating chess games and great analysis that we’re constantly receiving from you.

Classical > shorter time controls. Your >15 (or even better >20 ) minute coverages are the best with the context you give and the depth of explanation helps a lot appreciating these games as a patzer like me. Your style, sound quality and layout improved a lot over the years. The "yellow period" was a bit hard on the eyes. Thank you so much for all the beautiful content you have uploaded on this channel! I hope we can still watch you explaining chess during the next one or two decades.

I'll nominate the second bullet game in the speed chess championship between MVL and Hikaru. It was the most intense chess game I've ever seen with jaw-dropping moves that would be incredible even in classical time-formats at top-level play. Both players were really playing beyond their limits. It was quite the drama; even featuring a queen sack. I would love to see you analyze the game because I can't really analyze at that level yet. When I'm here writing a comment I might aswell take the opportunity to thank you for your work. You're by far my favourite chess youtuber, analysis is the best I've seen and you really know how to communicate in a way so the information sticks and as a viewer I'm really hooked with the emotional drama of the game when you talk. Best of wishes!

Liren win against Caruana at the candidates, incredible game
@HebdenBridgeChess4 жыл бұрын
Ok, checked back and found the game I was looking for. Erwin L’Ami played two very beautiful and ferociously complicated games in the Bundesliga. He drew with black against Mamedaryov in a crazy game but his win with White against Caruana was an even better effort. That one would be my nomination for the shortlist. Would love to see it covered here as I’m not sure I understand it completely myself!! 🤣
@PowerPlayChess4 жыл бұрын
Yes, they were both amazing! Just looked at the game against Mamedyarov - mind-blowing. Thanks for pointing it out!
@gerritkloss45964 жыл бұрын
L'Ami-Caruana was a major upset, boldly played by the Dutchman. Caruana miraculously survived the attack, but the resulting endgame was lost. Would be one of my favorites for the nomination.

Hadn’t seen this game, so thanks for sharing it. Really very nice indeed. Imagination and calculation out of the top drawer. This would be a worthy nomination. Of course the Dvirrny vs. Shirov game from the Online Olympiad has to at least make the short list. I seem to recall at least one very beautiful game being played at the Bundesliga but I can’t remember who played it off hand. I’ll have to check back and then list it here when I’ve found it. Looking forward to seeing the other suggestions you have for us Danny.

Studer-Rapport in the Bundesliga was extraordinary - perhaps that is what you have in mind?
@HebdenBridgeChess4 жыл бұрын
@@PowerPlayChess Yes, that one too was tremendous. Though for me I think L’Ami - Caruana may have the edge. Some great games in that this year. I actually preferred the format of having all the rounds played in one go but I can appreciate they’ll probably go back to the previous format again once we’re out of the current situation.

Suggestion for game of the year : Ding Liren vs Magnus Carlsen, Magnus Carlsen Chess Tour Finals, Benefitting Kiva, Round 4.2. Ding checkmated Magnus with a dazzling attack
@timwestlund30724 жыл бұрын
Dvirnyy-Shirov from the online olympiad should of course be nominated. Another really nice game i think is in contention is Caruana-Alekseenko from the candidates tournament. The boldness of Caruana's play starting with d6! is the reason i like this game and i think it's an instructive game as it shows how a piece beats 3 pawns
