“Ugh!” is about how haters, or bad people in general, use anger for the stupidest reasons. And BTS are mad that people use anger for those stupid reasons when anger could actually be used for the good, like protesting against police brutality on Black people that were brought up by racism. Basically, BTS is saying to stop being mad for the stupidest reasons because that type of anger can cause someone to commit suicide, etc.

“UGH" is the sound you make when you groan. Also, in the song they actually say "ook" instead of "ugh". "ugh" is written "억" in Korean and "ook" is "욱". 욱 has a different meaning with ugh. 욱 is when someone loses their temper and gets flared up, while "ugh" is just a sound that someone makes when annoyed. "욱하다" is literally a verb, "하다" is a grammatical device to make 욱 a verb, and can also be switched to "해", so u can say 욱해, which is what they been saying through the song, “ookke". This song is about how the world is always angry at something, which sometimes becomes excessive and destructive, taking focus from the issue itself. This is what prompts Hoseok to say "Anger is fine, but when it damages someone else, I don't like that, stop." All this applies to BTS because people hypocritically criticize and fake rage at them too, which is where in the end they spoke about "ahem". This sound is something that people make when clearing their throat, so basically representing people who clear their throats and tells them to shut up and not complain when people curse at them because they make a lot of money. this is ironic and "funny" because these people doing the criticism are totally hypocrites. The chorus is a bilingual wordplay. "Na-neun uk-he" does not mean "I say Ugh." It literally means "I am cold" but it's slang for "that bugs me" or "that leaves me cold". And in English we say 'ugh' sometimes when we are annoyed. Another genius verse from Joon. He really worked hard with this. So... it has differents meanings, actually it turns more sense with the koreans slags. the word 담궈버리지 is actually a hardcore slang used by korean gangs...." how would Suga know that? Well... '’what goes down in Daegu, stays in Daegu’'. (i read this on twitter by some armys so idk if it’s all true). Btw, be careful with those translated videos, they don’t show the real meaning, and sometimes are not translated in a correct way.

For me, "Pretending its anger and killing real anger" means that faking anger and irritation for clout diminishes the whole essence of rage. It makes people not take your emotions seriously. E.g. when global issues occur, they aren't taken seriously because of previous hype surrounding other situations that amounted to nothing.

I just watched but im still not sure whats it ab. Can you correct me if im wrong. So this song is ab the way ppl use their anger (positively or negatively) that they r referring to ppl always calling out other like canceling or sumn. Having an anger is not wrong..everybody has an anger in them its apart of us cause we're humans, you can be angry at someone its natural but it because a PROBLEM one's ur anger affects someone else's life..? Is there more?!?!
@angi49124 жыл бұрын
@@victoriaonyemba3053 It's about how people(haters mostly) use anger in a malicious way. They talk about how anger should be used in a good way by raising protests, by fighting for what is right etc, and these haters are overshadowing the good anger with one that is unnecessary and only causes things like K-pop idols having low self esteem and even suicide. i also want to add to the point that some of the lines feel like they are talking to themselves. they are saying that don't get angry at the haters (almost like it is their job) and that they earn money so they should stop whining (a form of anger) at the haters as they get money. basically they are saying that it is inevitable as they are famous and hence they should embrace it and direct the anger to useful things. this meaning came out to me especially at 11:39. this is a continuation to the different comments i saw here. all of them are right. UGH is one deeeeeep song.

UGH might be a message to the haters of BTS. Usually they are held up to a very high standard, that every little thing they do or not do, haters are mad. Or sometimes, haters would carelessly throw hate words towards BTS just so they can get ARMYs mad which in turn didn't think about the fact that BTS are humans too and that they get hurt.

The line were it's said you pretend it's anger but your killing the real anger, it's about how haters minds work, they are angry at whatever / whoever they hate in this case BTS - but the real anger is that they are angry at themselves - they don't love who they are and that's why they are angry and they take it all out on BTS and try to drag them down..

What I think that line about pretending to be angry and killing real anger means is basically saying everyone acts all angry over absolutely nothing to the point that anger means nothing at all. Nobody is getting angry over things that actually matter, they are all pretending to be angry on social media and getting into stupid ass fights online especially to the point where none of it actually means anything anymore. I think that's pretty much the message behind the whole song actually.

Just go watch UGH explained by a Korean. Although, I’m surprised you didn’t go more in depth with this one. You were not even trying. I read it the first time and I got the basic message. I don’t bother with these color code videos though. They’re so desperate for views they’re not giving you good translations. I was already impressed with the message and then I watched the explained video and I got schooled! I think this message is overall amazing as I feel BTS built in one way or another its career based on their anger and resentment against an industry that tried to bring them down. It’s a really good message about what ANGER should be and how it should be utilized. But, most importantly, how with time it has been diminished and distributed to target stupid meaningless causes.
