I am most interested in the ice age mammals that have been found trapped frozen in the ice such as cave lions, cave bears, woolly mammoths, woolly rhinos, and prehistoric wolves. Nice video.

I agree, it is so cool how many types of animals we've found frozen in ice! Those discoveries always lead to more discoveries because of how much we can learn from the unaltered ancient animals.

@@GEOGIRL Yep. And thanks to these ancient frozen remains, they can tell us more about what the animals looked like and provide more new facts about them.

The ammonite at 3:42 is not opalized; it has been inlayed with opal by a very patient lapidary.

Best summary of this information I've seen. Particularly liked slide/explanation of various chordata showing up during particular periods. Have you read "Otherlands" by Thomas Halliday. You might enjoy it. Thank you for your videos -- highly informative and enjoyable!

With permineralisation, does the mineral change the chemical composition of the organic matter so it preserves or is it more just encased and protected? Or does it actually just completely decay and leave gaps?
