Maybe you were just not lucky enough to step through the door into a different dimension. Actually I expect it’s just the novelty of a door at the beginning of a footpath. Quite rare I should think. Thanks for a glimpse of a beautiful and unusual village.

One I've long been waiting for, Andy. When we were youngsters, our parents had a holiday caravan at Brigham, and a catamaran boat moored on the river there. We used to have long weekends there from home in Leeds, with the nearby Yorkshire coast being regularly visited. The problem with the boat was that the outboard engine kept breaking down, and many a time we three boys ended up pulling it back to Brigham along the towpath with the mooring rope where Dad would strip down the engine and have another go fixing it! One winter the river falling from a flood dropped the boat on a stake sticking out from the bottom of the river and it punctured the hull, which was the end of the boat. Happy Days!
