I have the three cigars I bought waiting for special occasions. Max was the consummate gentleman and professional. Every time I use my new cutter and cigar case I will remember England and The Foulkes.

What an absolute brilliant return. Had me in stitches, what a fine double act you two really are. Wonderful Father, Son action, wonderful to see. I had the pleasure of meeting Foulkes Jr this morning when I popped into Davidoff to buy a tin of Davidoff Winston Churchill Belicoso. Very enjoyable 15 minutes or so watching this and yes, you are right, button down shirt with a morning suit is very bad form. Indeed a button down shirt with even a lounge suit doesn’t work either in my opinion.

A great day of sorrow indeed that saw Her Majesty pass from this world. The new title sequence is exquisite. The Privy Counsel? Sounds like something from the L.B.J. years here in the States. God Save the King! A beautiful cigar and tribute to the icon of Britannia. I for one enjoy the banter, the wonderful interaction of father and son and the general zany humor. The cigars are an added attraction. As to Her Majesty's passing, her Christmas message will be sorely missed. I sincerely hope King Charles III has a better time of it than the 2 previously named Charles (I and II). Rule Britannia!

First I wanted to offer my sincerest condolences, but I thought it was nice of you to honor her in this way. Finally, its a small world or Mr. Foulkes just has an enormous presence, I had no idea of his position at the GPHG. Funny thing, a group of my friends created and submitted a watch, the Lyrique Étude N°1 that was unfortunately not accepted; for reasons unknown to me anyways. It was a bit of a group project, 53 or so went in, got a designer who worked with Metalem, Agenhor and only the best suppliers. Bill Sanders put it all together, headed the group, hopefully they will do another one and can get it in to be judged. Anyways, thanks for this respite in these troubling and ominous times.

The Annigoni portrait features the Garter robe. I have a copy on my own humble mantle. Her late Majesty also wore the Royal Stewart tartan. King Charles III wore it for His vigil in St. Giles'.

Emperor Naruhito (Crown Prince of Japan at the time) studied at Merton College Oxford in 1983-86 but visited again in 2001 when my brother was there (I remember him telling me about it at the time, think he was involved with the tour somehow). The same brother got through to round 2 of ‘University Challenge’ as part of the Merton team!
