@Marty Flannigan That is understandable. But if you follow Dennis, like I imagine you do, Dennis is usually looking at numbers and going over vehicles he is considering as soon as he arrives. If you notice in the few videos where he and Thomas have dealt, especially this one, he stands back and listens to Thomas and takes him at his word. There is a respect and trust Dennis has with Thomas you don't see on most every other purchase. Granted Dennis does have to get Thomas back on track from time to time, but the trust he has in the inspection Thomas has already done shows.

I’m restoring a 1979 10th anniversary trans am 400/4 speed car that belonged to my dad he lost years ago to hard times. Found it abandoned behind a shop in Memphis Tennessee. Which is where we’re from so got lucky it never left the area. When I pulled the motor turned out it was a 75 b body 400 motor. Bummer but I remember my dad had blown the engine on more than one occasion so it’s not surprising and it was blown when he lost the car. Pulled it apart and it was rough and needs sleeves. I sat it aside and just looked online for a secondary block and BAM! Guy about an hour away in Arkansas had a 1971 YS code 400 block from a GTO. YS code was rated at 300 horsepower at the time which was still good considering the best 455 package in 1971 put out only 335 hp. Currently in machine shop now getting ready to start assembling soon. Love these videos. Cheers 🍻

Back in my 20's which was the late 80's early 90's all I ran was Pontiac. All fire birds and trans ams and a couple of late 60's fire birds. Believe it or not if submerged yourself in the world of cars you learn the numbers. In the beginning I had a book with all the casting numbers. I also had a list of certain Vin numbers of cars that came with certain vins. Now back then you could find certain cars for sale that were still reasonable. You could also still find alot in junk yards. So after a few years out digging around looking you would start to remember the good numbers and what cars had them. You would also learn about the good rear ends and transmissions. My first car I legally had on the road was a 1980 trans am with the WS6 suspension package. I was 16 but I had a 66 Pontiac tempest and a 76 ford f250 camper special. It had I believe a 390 with a 4speed with granny low trans in it. I had both of those at 14. So you can see if you are a car guy that it is possible to learn the good numbers. They don't know all the numbers just the good ones. Because those are the only ones that count.
