Seeing the shelter stuff, makes it feel like it was an alternate reality where they prepared for war, but it never happened... Then you realize, that IS our reality. We really did prepare for the end of the world, for a war to destroy all life. We had plans to try & keep people alive, and in some way, rebuild. I've seen some of these shelters as a child. In addition to cots and medical supplies, they had sanitation and radiation kits. Also, 55 gallon drums of purified water, tins of crackers and hard candy. The drums had plastic liners and would double as latrines once they were empty. I think most of these shelters were cleaned out in the 1970s and 80s. This one looks like it's been completely picked over, there's nothing left but the cots. If you still see the the "Civilian Defense" placard these days, there's a good chance the shelter is still there.

@frazzledude3 жыл бұрын
Cats usually don’t mark their territory with feces. Instead they use urine, and unneutered male cats will spray. Wild or feral cats tend to bury their feces to make it harder for predators to track them. That is why domesticated cats bury their feces in a litter box. My guess is that all the poop on those stairs is from raccoons in that building.

Just an FYI. Asbestos is not hazardous unless it's disturbed. Unless it is burned, or moved or opened up. The asbestos you're looking at on the piping is considered non-friable. So it's safe to be around. Hopefully you're wearing respirators with new cartridges on them. Those are cartridges that are full of activated charcoal and are good for only 8 hours.

There's something so satisfying and comforting just chillin watching one of your videos. Feels like I've learned something while relaxing, and being entertained all at the same time. Love you guys!

How long does it take for buildings to start having the paint peel? I've been told it's actually pretty quick because the humidity from people living inside keeps it from drying out and peeling.
@cigamkcalb97742 жыл бұрын
ive seen it happen in buildings in under a year if left to the elements

That orange piping running throughout is called innerduct. It's used to run and protect fiber optic cables.

Time Stamp 3:32: Dungeon Master: So while travelling down the dungeon corridor you see a black, viscous, thick fluid slowly dripping from the ceiling. Player: Huh...kinda like a...sorta...pudding? Dungeon Master: Uh...roll initiative.

Super cool video! Always been curious what steam tunnels looked like. My university probably has them - in researching unrelated things, I've read mentions of a map, but have never found anything. By the way, bats are not rodents - they're just bats, their own thing.

I'm happy to see you guys with proper PPE (I'm assuming yall wear steel toes too), but you DO know that asbestos won't just jump off pipes, ceiling or whatever. You're only in danger if you kick up a bunch of the dust or try tearing it down. Great vid as ALWAYS guys!!

Guys, it would be smart to take hardhat helmets and protection gloves with you along the masks. They can get in the way some times but you never know where you are geting into or what´s on the other side of that door. Still, incredible videos!!!

Never been this early. Cheers to the Proper People for a wonderful weekend upload. I would love to go with you guys if you ever came to Virginia to explore. I’ve worked in the commercial construction industry for years and know a lot about the hazards in these kinds of buildings and methods used to build them.

I'm often like that when I go urbexing (I don't video though). If there is any other sound other than my breaths (or respirator when my enclosed air "helmet" isn't being used), I will turn and look around frantically. I often leave early because of that.
