I gotta do bullet points on this one because I feel it was jam packed with goodness! *For some reason I enjoy watching the dirt and dust dance around on the floor when your power tools vibrate as they cut through the wood! *The way you use the clamp as your brute force when you need to move supports back into place...IMPRESSIVE! *The editing and use of music...also IMPRESSIVE! *Maverick's coloring skills are awesome for a kid his age! *And Belle's coloring methods are wonderful! I believe Belle, Maverick, Ashley and Doug are all artists. The coloring was on the level of much older childern. Indeed amazing! The work Ashley and Doug accomplish is beyond construction. They inspect and insure they do the very best work possible. In my opinion they are true artisians. No 'lipstick on a pig' allowed! I wish i could hire them to do work for me. Their level of high quality work is both admirable and unfortunately quite rare. Major respect!!!!

I taught private art lesson to fellow homeschooling families for many years. Your kids have great skills. I was very excited to see how well Maverick is able to stay within the lines and color smoothly. Bell has appreciation for shape and form. Both of my kids grew up retaining that appreciation for art and creativity. My daughter works for an architectural firm designing commercial interiors. My son still draws and writes in his spare time to this day. I might be biased, but to me these skills mean more than simple aesthetics, but independence and problem solving abilities too. I will never regret having homeschooled them as I see the great fruit it produced in them. God bless your family on your journey!

Doug when buying wood to build the trailer and house with is it treated automatically for termites and insects or do you have to treat it? Our wood is generally untreated and we treat it before using it in South Africa.

It looks like you have two artists in the family as well........so the entire family have a high level of artistic talent, all in their own distinct fields. Love it. You have two beautiful children and I so enjoy them........always have! How blessed. I cannot believe the termite damage that just looking at the wood from the outside anyone would have perhaps thought it was good. NOT SO.........I have lived in many southern climate with moisture or just southern climates and it seems they love the warm sunny weather as well. LOL Thank heavens you found it and now I wonder what is under that floor by the door you need to work on yet........boy, that was sure a surprise. Yikes. Thank heavens you knew to keep going. That home is going to be so valuable and study, made better than the manufacturer did it in the beginning. It's going to be lovely! I give you alot of credit for doing all this work. I mean you are pretty much rebuilding and replacing the whole trailer! I know I would have said 'Screw it!' and sent it to the junk yard and not bothered. Also the fact that you do ALL the work by yourselves astounds me. You are much stronger than you appear and obviously are very knowledgable. I have learned so much from watchin you, even if I never use the knowledge on my own house it is still nice to know, especially living in a trailor myself and being responsible for all the mainenance and repair. Thank you for the coloring book update. The pictures the kids colored in turned out really well. Belle's talent is far from what it was only 2-2.5 years ago when she was drawing and coloring in dragons. She should consider either a career in graphics or a side hustle.

It's been awhile since you have shared artwork from Belle. They are beautiful! Maverick's coloring is good. He's taking pointers from his sister. That termite damage was so surprising to me! The mobile home will actually be better then when new after your renovation. As always, Ashley is consistent in the background picking up trash, anticipating your needs and looking in on the children. She is looking so beautiful as she continues to be more happy. Your love for each other and your children is so refreshing to see. Scraping the old vinyl off the floor turned out easier then I thought it would. But your upper body strength is hidden in your frame. Take care!

Seeing the damage those insects caused is a little unsettling, especially since our home is about 100 years old.... It is so reassuring to see you get that stuff out of there and replace it with new solid wood!!! The kids coloring pages are fantastic! Looks like Maverick got the gift like his big sister. They are way beyond their years in skill in those things. Beautiful in so many ways, from color choices, to staying in the lines, to highlighting certain parts. You must be very proud. I don't know if most people realize how much damage Termites can do. Just like you showed the wood looses all its structural integrity. It basically just becomes paper. You are doing a great job on this repair, renovation, and rebuild! Maverick has natural artistic talent as does Belle! I think Belle would love to use some alcohol markers to do some coloring. They blend and mix colors quite nicely. Color pencils can be used over the top of them to enhance the colors and patterns. Prayers for safety and blessings for your family!

Where we live there are old abandoned trailer homes all over the place. I can see why, if you don't stay on top of the maintenance they just disintegrate. Keep up the good work 💪👍

The kids are very talented! Doug we had a window like the one you have on the end of the kitchen.We had a window company do ours but I know you will be doing your. They took out that window and put in 2x 4's and just fixed it like it was 4 separate windows. On the out side where the wood was showing they used 1x6 I believe I've never measured them. All of the wood was wrapped with metal the caulked with silicone to sill from water getting in. It looks just like a picture frame around every window. We also left them the same lenth that the old ones were. Im sure they will be a special order if you do something like that. We didn't do the bay windows I know you will come up with something beautiful. Love to your family!❤

I loved seeing the kid's artwork! They're so talented. We have 4 grown kids and our 4th came when I was 44. We homeschooled (unschooled) him Pre K thru 12th and he got a better education than the 3 who went to public school. Hubby retired and then went back and got his teaching degree in math and other m/s, high school subjects. Thanks for letting us be part of your family and adventures.

Yikes! I guess my last comment must've jinx y'all or something. I'm so sorry about that. I was afraid the rot would be a lot worse under the door, but I sure wasn't expecting it to go all the way into the kitchen! Wow, That was some serious termite damage!! Thank goodness you took the outer flange off and double checked the rim joists. Because if you just went by how it looked at first glance, it probably would've been a lot harder on y'all to replace and repair it, later on down the road. I think, Belle's and Maverick's, coloring style is really beautiful, Thank you for sharing them with us!! 😊 They have more talent in their tiny little fingers, than I do in my whole entire body! LOL!! When I was their age, I was lucky if I was able to stay in the lines and I never thought about using more than one color for the water, like they did. Had thought about what the children were doing while you both were working, had a feeling they were doing something keeping busy and out of the weather. They did a beautiful job on the pictures. Most people wouldn't have thought about using the clamps in installing the wood you replaced. It keeps looking better and better. Hope your putting something on the wood to keep insects from chewing it up. Hate to see hard work being ruined in the future. You both are doing a great job.

Yes! Definitely some of our Florida termites at work! I’m surprised there isn’t more termite damage… if you have a frame home, in Florida it’s bound to happen. Check all of the blocks for any trails. Make sure to treat the ground as that’s where they live.

The insect damage was a terrible surprise! So glad you found it! Going forward, what can you do you do to prevent insect damage in the future?

You can get a powder and pour a line of insect repellant, or inject a liquid all along the outside wall & keep looking for their mud tube. They will only come out of the ground up to your home in a tube that protects them from sunlight. This will usually be close to a water source. Do not store any cellulose, wood or paper close to your walls. For pier crawl spaces you can install a metal bug shield at the top of the cinder block piers. Pick up fallen sticks, limbs and leaves and keep them away from your foundation. Keep all shrubbery at least 3 feet away from your foundation. If you find a tube, destroy it then pour 1/4 cup of gasoline at the base of it. Do NOT light it on fire.

I used to work for a carpet and linoleum company. When we had to pull up sticky tiles we found the best tool to use was an ice chopper/scrapper. They are duller than the bladed tool you are using, therefore it won't gouge the underlayment. It is also on a long handle, allowing you to get some real power behind your scrapping.

You probably already thought of this but, if you have a Habitat Restore in your area you might get lucky and find a bay window replacement for the front of the trailer. It may not match perfectly but you can reframe it to fit. Just a thought.
