Hey Doug, don't sell yourself short on truss repairs. I worked as an engineer at a truss manufacturing company in ohio and we forgot a connector plat or we broke a board we did the same thing you did, we call it scabbing. The only suggestion I would give for in the future is put scab on both sides and glue the scab before screwing it up use something like liquid nail for the glue. Your a pretty smart guy, for not being an engineer you fixed the trusses the way an engineer would (great job 👍👍).

I went back and binge watched all of the videos from the house renovations and let me tell you what...THAT HOUSE IS BAD ASS!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾❣️❣️❣️ With a background in Interior Design and Historic Preservation and Restoration, watching hours and days of house flips, renovations and restorations, they can't touch you with a ten-foot pole!!! Of course, this is my own opinion. I must say though, you definitely have more grace and understanding than me because I wouldn't be explaining anything to anyone about what I do or why I do it. I don't remember reading anywhere that God gave the assignment to anyone to critique and question choices that people can make without the approval of others. You just keep on being you, be different and rare, and being innovative with the ish! It's very clear and apparent that you put a lot of thought into what you do! And the whole family cleans up well, too! 😁 You have a great support team in Ashley and the kids! Ashley is so very supportive, Belle is so very talented, sweet, and loves her little brother, and Maverick is just a cutie pie! ❤❤❤ I love you all!!! Keep up the great work!!! And don't pay any attention to the negative Nell and Nellie KnowItAll's!!! ❣️❣️❣️ 😁 Now to watch the mobile home flip...I am learning so much! Thank you! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

In the vibrant metropolis of Florida, where towering live oak trees kiss the clouds and neon sunsets paint the night sky, a new beacon of hope emerges - a silent guardian known as Ashley Ninja Warrior. In a world teetering on the edge of chaos, Ashley, a seemingly ordinary young woman by day, conceals a remarkable secret that sets her on a path of extraordinary heroism. Born into a lineage of ancient martial arts masters, Ashley inherited not only exceptional physical prowess but also a mystical connection to the ethereal realm. Trained in the secluded sanctuaries of her ancestors, she honed her skills in the shadows, blending the wisdom of the old ways with a modern edge. A master of stealth, agility, and the art of the katana, Ashley rises above the ordinary to become Florida's silent protector.

The insulation between the roof and the trusses might be noise dampening for heavy rain. Those small trusses can just transfer the sound directly to the new ceiling. Try to listen for how loud it is before you put up the new ceiling. It can also have a double purpose to have a small gap and let the metal roof expand and contract in the summer heat, without rubbing against the wood trusses making creaking sounds. Just my speculation though. They did try to make those houses as cheap as possible so I can't believe they would have put it there for no reason. Love your channel and watch every video! :)

A comment for your previous video. You cannot put particle board, or plywood on aluminum. There's trace amounts of copper in them and that copper will react to the aluminum causing it to rot. That's why the aluminum sheet under the bay window was rotting. The condensation from the windows gradually washes the copper out of the particle/plywood onto the aluminum sheets, causing a chemical reaction. So you were right. These homes were built fast, not to last. Hope this helps.

You need to put back clean insulation under the roof it is for sound insulation. When the wind is high that roof will ripple and rattle loudly with out it. So you will need to put it back in place. Loving to see how you do all these repairs. Knowledge for future on my part!

I didn't hear anything, everything is fine and nothing broke. >>;=) Oh man, Doug's accident-proneness keeps Ashley's senses sharp as a scalpel. Please be sure he's never without adult supervision hehe. I agree, yes, the above insulation strips are for muffling metal noise, and also to reduce friction against the metal from the trusses. I'm hoping you plan to go back up there later with something to pad the roof or that metal will be awful loud during bad weather, or be more prone to transition strip wear between the metal sheets. Nice to see the old stuff gone though. I feel like we're in a good place, getting the interior of the house cleaned up finally. Demo and repair is such a mess. Of course, I say "we" like I'm over there doing any of the work LOL. With you guys in spirit if that counts.

I would never pay today's prices for a new one but there's money to be made if you're not afraid of work. I don't know what they paid for this one, im betting not alot. I learned from my mother not to say that to my husband. Interestingly, his mother told him not to criticize my work, either. It's made for a marriage in which we have the room to address genuine problems and not sweat the minor stuff. It's hard though. Doug snaps the truss and my first thought was: "We" broke it? "We" was you, dude. When he then added a minute later than he'd finally screwed it up (meaning it was fixed) I had to laugh out loud. They're a very good team.

Hey yall, it looks fantabulous now that you cleaned up. When you were removing insulation at about the 16:00 mark and forward, you broke the elastomeric bond in the roof coating between the panels and you could see light shine in. This means now you will have roof leaks when you get rain & wind. Pressure wash, then clean with fungicide and re-coat the roof with white roof coating. I recommend Henry Solar Flex coating from Home Depot.
