Just bought a Batch #4 on a visit back east and shipped it to myself. Can’t wait to try it, as I do prefer a higher corn mash bill.

Did a tasting recently with all 6 batches (5 and 6 aren't out yet) the new batches are so good. Don't let the age statement of batch 5 scare you.

I bought a batch 004 a couple weeks ago on a chance and glad I did. I ended up buying a back up bottle. It opens up and gets even better down past the neck with some air. It’s a special bottle that I’m glad I took a chance on. I paid $135 and well worth it.

Was lucky enough to get batch 4 and it's already my favorite whisky I've had in 2022 thus far. So dessert like and delicious. Definitely a recommend. Excited to see what they do in future batches

Yeah, it's funny how both Canadian and Irish whiskeys get treated sometimes; they have negative stigmas attached to them. But there is one thing I'll saying about them. I've yet to experience any harshness or unsip-ability when it comes to either one of them.

Thanks for the review Jason. Had not heard of these guys yet and sounds super unique. As big fan of the OC American batches you pulled me in with that comparison… ordered the batch 4 at the end of this video! Can’t wait to try it

Nice to see a little love for the boys up north. Lots of good / great stuff starting to come south. Great, honest review as always. Little pricey, but considering what's in the bottle and the current market, not really out of line at all.

There were still a few bottles of Batch #2 where I am, so I finally bit the bullet and picked one up. Pretty excited about what these guys are doing, and I'll look forward to cracking it this weekend.

Jason, I just got batch 5 delivered to the house last week and tasted it. It's a great wheated expression imo. If you pick one of those up, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it and how it compares to our dear tatered but somewhat deserving WLW. Batch 5 is sweet as well, very bakery-ish on the nose and palette with a bit of nut character to - not as noticeable as Beam or Hill products but it's there.

I grabbed a Rare Perfection 15 year cask strength Canadian whiskey recently on a whim. Totally blew me away. It’s not bourbon. But it’s something special. Unique and memorable. Try one.

Looks like they have several batches in stock, so I might have to pick these up. Should be something really cool and unique to share with the local club. Thanks for bringing something unique, Jason!
@the_snicklefritz2 жыл бұрын
Definitely a great bottle to bring to a club! Something unique that most bourbon drinkers haven't tried, but that almost all can appreciate. Unique experience of sweetness and oak in Batch 004 for sure, reminds me of an Old Carter like Jason mentioned

I remember from your and Fred’s BTAC replacement video’s Saz 18 was super tough to find an alternative for due to the lack of high aged ryes out there, how would you say this compares from that perspective?
@TheMashandDrum2 жыл бұрын
The rye from Found North is more on the spicy side and dark fruit. Saz 18 I havent had in a while but from what I remember the Saz was good but had a richer oak . But either way this is a great value for a high age. The corn whiskey blended in gives it a sweeter and fruitier profile.
@TheOriginalBlackBradPitt2 жыл бұрын
@@TheMashandDrum thanks so much for your reply, I always appreciate your insight on all things bourbon and rye. It’s nice to kinda see how this compares to some of the more allocated bottles in the same price range (given you win a lottery and can buy them close to msrp)

Looking forward to that Double Bass comparison with Old Carter. FWIW, I did a side-by-side of the Batch 4 with my OC AW Batch #5 (the one that ADHD chose in 2020). They are very similar, but the Found North is actually more complex than the OC. Thanks for the recommendation!

The Old Carter Whiskey reference, sounds good already if it's anything like my Batch 4. Rare Perfection 14 and 15 are incredible, whoda thunk bourbon recipe Canadian Whiskey would be so damn good! Slight turn...had some Armagnac yesterday and it took a second pour to figure out similar taste to OC Whiskey Batch 4.

The 17 is more my thing than the 18 yr. 19 yr tasted like wood to me. The 17 yr tastes better the more you sip it. Just a sweet kind of whiskey.

I wish I could source these as it appears that the US blenders are better at blending Canadian whisky than the corn crazy cheap distillery blenders are here. 90% of aged Canadian Rye is shipped to the US as far as I can see.
