I can't tell if this is an implied judgement on the fact that some people would take out their possibly grown out kids' furniture (with a flyer on it to say it's free..), but I am just going to point out how much cooler I find it to recycle Other people's stuff than your own, or than "buying quality stuff and keeping it in the family for generations". ☺️

@chellybabyme11 ай бұрын
@@Dynosoarus when people have infestations they usually put their furniture out on the street because it's easier. In NYC, it is commonly done when people get bed bugs, fleas, Etc. Vermin will hide in the furniture for a while
@goodasgoing10 ай бұрын
Can it be fumigated and put outside for a period of time, a kind of quarantine, in order to get rid of infestations? Is that a good process?
@chellybabyme10 ай бұрын
@@goodasgoing if it is bed bugs, there is bed bug killer but I've never had to use it. I do think it's like a fumigation. Putting it outside will just probably drive them further inside of the grains and crevices. But if you took it and isolated it with some pesticide that would probably work. I didn't mention this but sometimes people have a very moldy house due to some water damage and then they have to lose their furniture. Mold grows on furniture, carpet clothing etcetera. In that case, it should be destroyed and not used because the spores will grow and contaminate the surroundings once it's brought inside. No amount of washing it up and making it look shiny and nice would fix it if that were the case.

One biggie I recommend to anyone when getting wooden furniture of the street is making sure there isn't any woodworm, termites or something similar like that in it (so keep it out of your house until your sure). A lot of the time furniture gets dumped on the street might have some infestation problem like that, and it can infest the rest of the wood in your place (and it's very difficult to get rid of in that stage). Cute end result thou!
