We're Moving Soon | Let's Catch Up!

After thinking about this for the last year or so... we've decided to move. Maybe we'll be back one day but we found a house near family that we'll be moving into in a few weeks! It'll be an adjustment but excited for the changes!

We moved 1 1/2 years ago to a much quieter older neighborhood in another city. No traffic, less people. It was amazing. Large trees, people love to garden & take care of the lawns, walk their dogs, much more courteous people. It’s like going back in time. You will love it and forget about the noise, rush of people and traffic soon. It’s amazing. Congratulations! 🎉

As an individual that lived for years of my Life in BOTH New York City and Florida for a multitude of years , I wholeheartedly concur with you Shelby on every sentiment you so openly and vulnerably expounded upon pertaining to each location. I am now comfortably ensconced in a cozy, warm, inviting 1945 Colonial Revival with shutters on the windows as I had dreamed of since I was a little girl and I now have the loveliness of an existence among all four seasons! I can truly say that most of us will remain with you along the journey of decorating your new Home. This is SO right. I've been thinking about my past a lot lately, as I get older. My parents did not make the wise choice that this lady is making. They chose to remain isolated from both their families, for seemingly no reason at all other than selfishness on my father's side and passivity on my mother's. I grew up with no siblings, cousins, aunts or uncles, only my mother and father and her mother, my Granny. They are now all dead and I have nobody. Literally nobody. If we had even moved just a couple of hours away I could've grown up with all my mother's extended family. If we'd moved back east, I could've grown up with two aunts and an uncle and a slew of cousins. Instead I am completely alone, and it's too late to move now and try to forge bonds that should've been created 50 years ago. PrettyInThePines absolutely did the right thing.

I discovered you on Instagram, last Christmas, after hearing some really great jazz playing as you shared your apartment. I was hooked! I look at your journey and time goes by so quickly. I’m 64 now, children are grown and all except one are out of state. I remember our move from Ohio to Alabama and how magical it was walking into our newly built farmhouse style home. January 1st 1999, the time has slipped away. Having family nearby while raising your young family is important. I’ve been back in Ohio for 22 years now, where did the time go. I am so happy for you guys. I can hardly wait to see where your unique creativity goes in your design for each area if your new home inside and out. I am moving back home to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi in the spring. I am currently looking for a home with acreage. I LOVE INTERIOR DESIGN and being unique with my creativity as well. You INSPIRE me in many ways. I save all of your posts and revisit them often. I use Feng Shui in my decor and design. I am working towards becoming a master in the art of Feng Shui. The NC house fits you ... layout, landscape and huggability. Love when a home is "nice enough" to take all the time needed to just move in or change. Nothing pressing except flooring ... better sooner rather than later. Easier. After that when ever ... whatever ... or plan or budget or keep until something perfect comes to mind ... and the extra time. Enjoy your home. Enjoy your family. And, extended family.

Good luck in North Carolina. We are doing the opposite. We’re moving back up North from North Carolina. I miss the hustle and bustle of a major city. I think this is a great place to raise a family, but we don’t have any children, so, it’s a little to slow for us. I’m looking forward to seeing your journey. I get it. The opening shot was everything. When you went thru the french doors and twirled and sat down.. the look on your face said it all 'I am home!" I can't imagine what you will do with all that room! Wow, how ironic to have come across your channel today! I also live in New York, but in the suburbs. Originally from Brooklyn, my move out East 14 years ago was the first step towards getting away from the hustle and bustle lifestyle of city living. I’ve long desired to move away from NY, but several things have kept me from making that ultimate move. While 14 years seems like an exceptionally long time, it has flown by so fast but I’m closer now than I have been and I’m eagerly looking to leave here. For mostly the same reasons as yourself…space, yard, garden, less hassle, etc. in plain…just a “peace of mind”! It’s good to see someone actually moving forward into their dreams and I Congratulate you and your family! I know you will love it and I look forward to the documentation of it all. Oh wow! What an exciting time!! I only recently discovered you through your Homeworthy Apartment Tour. So I’m pretty new here. But I can absolutely see why you’d move back and why the timing is perfect. Pearl having room to run around will be fantastic as well as Brooks having a yard as well. I envision a big play set and things in the yard for him to play on. I’ve always had a love affair with New York City and wished I could live there. Buuuut, not full time, lol.
