When money is involved, especially in the late 1800s, people would shoot their own mother for it.Billy was ambushed and killed by Pat Garret. The guy who killed Pat wasn't 21, and had too or Pat was going to kill him. He became a bitter old man.

The guy on the far right is almost certainly Dave Rudabaugh. He's easier to recognize than anyone else in that tintype. That would make it before the arrest and before Garrett was sheriff.

There are probably several pictures of Billy the Kid out there along with other famous old west figures. Photographs at that time were still relatively new and photographers were few and far in between. But....with all the riding around the Kid did, I'm sure he would have jumped at a chance to get his picture taken whenever he could. Look at people today. Always taking selfies, Instagram, pics of their friggin' food. Why? Because the latest technology we have allows us to do so. It's the popular thing to do. Back then, simple photographs were the popular thing. Hell, they even used to have death portraits of you when you died, your dead body stood up or posed in a chair. So I wouldn't be surprised if this photo was legit and there were even more out there waiting to be found. The Kid in this pic is even holding his possibly shackled hands up like he's saying, "They got me".

These are 5 men of the 19th century, but who are they? The 19th century had many look alikes posing as famous Old West characters. How can we be sure this is Billy the Kid and not some local cowboy who someone though looked like Billy the Kid.

Pat Garret did not shoot Billy, they were friends, Billy died in Hico, Tx at 90 years old and is buried near by in Hamilton,tx.

From what i saw on a documtary the river close to billy's grave overflowed twice. Because graves were knomn to be shallow the remains may not be there.that is if he really was buried there.i believe he lived till old age.

no he did not and the evidence clearly shows brushy bill was just an aging old man enthralled with the case his whole life and as he started believing others also started believing it because was not a liar but deranged making him seem believable. the evidence is abundant that in interviews the information you not being given is that he knew little of billys life. so for the news only a few lucky hits got published and the massive amount of info he was not the kid was simply ignored by everyone. even his childhood photos look nothing like the kid. when they say "family records show that he was two years old when the kid got shot so they simply say WELL MUST BE BAD RECORDS"

Two things wrong with this. First, look at the Kid's chin in both pics. It's a far longer chin in the known picture of Billy. Second, Garrett was known to be 6' 4" tall, and even sitting, that gut ain't!

Photo Expert has come out with his determination that not only is Billy and Garrett in the picture, but that it was taken by the same photographer with the same four lens Anthony Camera that took the DU Billy picture. Secondly, another of the five tintypes purchased in the group is Ash Upson, the journalist friend of Pat Garret who ghost wrote THE AUTHENTIC LIFE OF BILLY THE KID. Not only is it clearly Upson, but "ASH" is scratched/written on the back of the tintype.

Might be Pat Garrett but that is 100% not Billy the Kid if we accept that the one known photo we have of Billy the Kid is Billy the Kid and apparently Garrett published the picture in his book and he would know. This young man looks nothing like Billy the Kid. Billy the Kid had a very long, large chin and a prominent brow line. This young man in this photo is more like a flat faced bulldog.

If Billy was captured why is he in back like that..It would make more scence with Billy in the middle with 4 kinda surrounding him..He was their trophy so to speak.And i dont think with the mindset theyd all have their back turned to Billy the Kid..Im talking about at a pshycological level this photo dosnt support that.I do believe thats Billy and Pat though.Pat seemed emotionally invested in Billy and i think this story played out very different then what weve been told.This photo almost tells the opposite.In that time era you dont have your back turned to someone you dont trust..this shows trusting that guy..the whole vibe is off for this being a capture of the "most wanted man" in the west at that time..

One account is that this is Pat Garrett and his Stinking Spring posse with their famous prisoner -- BTK. . .Barney Mason is front and centre ( Pat's brother in law) the others are LX / LS cowboys and Frank Stewart .....are those chains drapped over Billy's shoulders ?? Pity Pat didn't take his time and get a photo the next time his caught up with Blilly.....it has been said Pat did have a copy of this photo but gave it away ( as he was want to do ) for political favors about the turn of the century.....
