I love love love MAC face & body foundation. I like to useit on it's own when I feel like a light coverage but it's also great if you mix in a tiny bit of a stronger foundation - this way you preserve the gorgeous finish of f&b but you can achieve stronger coverage.

Love this masterclass that I have to subscribe! I was just hoping that you guys zoomed in from time to time to get a better look on what was going on and to somehow see the differences of an before and after foundation. The toughest and most ignored skin tone is non-Caucasian light/fair skin. Because Asia, Middle Eastern, Indian, Pakistani etc. women can also be quite fair sometimes!!! I'm Indian and really fair, and the ladies at makeup counters always try to match me to a foundation that's at least 2-3 shades darker than I am.

007birkin To be fair, skintones in that range are so hard to match. Women of that complexion tend to have very olive undertones, and usually have to settle with too yellow or too pink. Women of color also have more depth to their skin, meaning it can be hard to find 1 shade that complements the varying tones of your skin. I'd say match yourself and ask for a second opinion - you have the most experience with your skin, after all!

This is awesome, and very much appreciated. Yup, I have clear clear skin but my issue is having lighter skin up top and then a bit darker around the mouth and chin. It's not hugely noticeable but I like a bit of something to keep it even so this was very helpful.

Im not a make-up artist in any way shape or form, but I am also fair/ very oily skinned and struggle with dark circles, I use bobbi brown's creamy concealer in 'Light Bisque' and for drug store, collection(2000)'s lasting perfection concealer in fair :)

Hi Pixiwoo! I suggest doing separate foundation masterclass videos about color/shade selection and choosing the right texture for different skin concerns (discoloration, imperfections, etc). Essentially separating colour and texture and/or skin type. I know each individual has to take both in consideration when choosing a foundation, but separate videos explaining each issue might be useful. Then we can out the knowledge together. :) Love you guys!

Go for peachy, pink, melon, salmony shades. Anything with pink in it will counteract the blue in dark circles and neutralize the skin tone. Benefit Erase Paste is really good or Bobbi Brown correctors. I haven't found a drugstore one that I like yet but I heard there is a Covergirl one that is it's one of those Olay/Covergirl swirly ones. Hope this helped :)

this can be tricky. I would suggest that you match the foundation to your forehead becasue in that area there's less olive undertone, and then let it fade out towards the peremeter of your face. to counteract the greenish tinge around your mouth you might want to try a concealer that has a warmer (orangy/salmony) tone than your foundation. I really hope this helps!

Please could you recommend an affordable foundation for me? I have pale, oily and problematic skin (redness and blemishes). I've tried Vichy Dermablend but the lightest colour they do is far too dark on me. I use Lily Lolo mineral foundation every now and then but hate the way it cakes in my pores (even with a primer). Can you help?!

Personally I try to counterbalance my "red"/pink undertones with yellow based foundations. By doing that, it neutralises the redness. By using a pink undertone foundation, it will emphasise the red and in turn make you redder. So its up to you what you prefer your skin to look like :)

I think it's just a matter of issues not showing as much. With fair skin not only do blemishes, etc show up more but they leave discoloration that lasts as well. I know a lot of ladies with darker skin have major issues with oiliness and blemishes, as well as inconsistencies in pigmentation. Too often companies only make one or two darker shades, and even then they are not the correct tone. Many times they simply give up and go without base out of necessity.

This is great. I use MUFE HD foundation and it looks good on camera but I notice that it doesn't quite last the whole day. I do use their HD primer. I think I might try out that Urban decay primer potion.

Check the SPF levels in your foundation :) Higher SPF levels (ie, more sun screen) will cause that white cast over your face with flash photography. Use a high SPF foundation during the day, and a low/zero SPF foundation at night when flash photography is being used. If you can't afford both, then just buy a low SPF foundation and during the day wear sun screen under it :)

i think it's to do with the foundation itself. so perhaps your foundation has spf in it? that can often give flash back so our faces look lighter in photos. and if it doesn't have an spf, just get a sample of / buy another foundation as it could just be the one you're wearing
