Bottom line. If you go to gateway. Leave. This is a cursed place. Run far far away from it. This is not God's place.

In my opinion (OPINION) Robert and Gateway handled their interactions with Cindy poorly between 2005 and two 2007. The correct way would had been for Robert and Gateway to offer to pay for the help she said she needed. But in my opinion (again, OPINION) the true nature, with full details of Robert’s actions against Cindy, would had been necessary to disclose to more people than Robert fell comfortable with. He most likely wanted to help but his humanity got the best of him, because that would had been too embarrassing for him, not to mention risky. But I insist that If he in fact repented (metanoia: change of mind) and proved it by, as he claims, “walking in purity and accountability” and not repeating the abuse (sin) against Cindy or any other child, then I see nothing in Scripture that in any way teaches he needs to be punished today in the PRESENT, for what he did in the PAST but has not done again for almost 40 years. James 5:16 teaches us to “Confess your trespasses to one another…” not that we need to make public confession to everyone and forever our most intimate sins that we have “metaniaed” from and embarrassed to talk about…

People who truly repent do not have a problem fully disclosing all the details of their sins. So he did not truly repent.

@@paulwilson1424 Is that your opinion or do you have Scripture to support what you’re saying?

I can give several scriptures, but let's start with James 5; 16. James writes to confess your sins to one another, not a watered down version of your sin that doesn't require jail time. He "confessed" to sexually immoral behavior with a "young lady" implying that she was emotionally mature enough to consent. He did not confess to manipulating a child into sexual acts that she was not old enough to consent to. So there was no true repentance. 1 Peter 2;1 So put away all malice and all deceit.... Robert has practiced deceit for years by telling a watered down version of what he did. Now this is my opinion, He either lied about abusing a child, or he was having improper immoral behavior with more than one person. Maybe he was having an affair with a lady, and that is what he confessed to, as well as abusing a child. Which is the reason why even his church finally had to split from him. The thing about punishment is it is not only to correct the wrong doer, but also to deter others from doing the same.
