If there is one song that always brings me back to my 12 year old self every time I hear it its definitely this song. It was one of the greatest times to be growing up during the nineties with so much great music on MTV and the local radio everyday. I also liked and still like a lot of songs from bands like Fountains of Wayne, Gin Blossoms, and the Smashing Pumpkins, but its truly like going back in time for me being the kid I was back then having so much good music to listen to at any given time. Times sure have changed a lot since then unfortunately, but not forgotten as long as I have the fond memories to go along with these classics I'll forever cherish.

One of our new songs "Golden Years" was heavily inspired by this song. I grew up hearing this song, and about a year ago it came on the radio in my car and hit me real good. Where you understand the beauty and precision of a song that's simple and subtle in a way that you couldn't have seen it before. It comes across almost cheeky, but to me, it's very honest. I thought in that moment I should challenge myself to write something that's simple but still complex in its own way. Not overloaded with words and storylines (which I tend to do) but focused on concise thoughts and feelings and choosing very few of the right words. And leave room for the song to breathe, and ROCK. He was great at that.

This song (And Radiation Vibe) are some of my favorite FoW songs. It's almost funny, people will be all "oh! I love Fountains of Wayne, Stacy's Mom is the best song!" and when I mention my two favorites, they look at me like I'm crazy. (Or that Adam hung out with the likes of Taylor Hanson, James Iha and Bun E. Carlos for Tinted Windows heh)
