For Karina's character, I like to think she is a traveling seamstress and she wears her shop. Whenever she needs to mend a dress or make something from scratch, she pulls most the material off of herself until she's at the last layer, then she calls it a day.

Ratt looks like someone you'd meet in Wind Waker who tricks you into sabotaging her rival back alley dealer's business. And then steals your sword and tries to sell it back to you.

Ratt has the full triforce map, but she sells it ar 1 million rupees. You don't have that kind of money, of course, so she asks to kill Tingle, her biggest rival. But it's too much, so you settle by popping his balloons. And the map ends up being for trinkets you sell to her, at a very, very cheap price.

This is how I imagine it: Mickey is moving to a new town and gets lost, so she pulls over to stretch and let pup go potty and hears a noise… a ragged looking tiny person comes flying up to her and offers to read the map for her if she gives her a ride. Mickey agrees since she’s just tired and wants to get to town. Mickey and Pinky become friends along the ride and Pinky complains about her ripped up clothes, so Mickey says she will help her find some clothes when they get to town. When they arrive they have no luck finding tiny clothes, and that’s when someone notices how desperate and lost they are and approaches… Rat offers to introduce them to a tailor in town who loves a crazy challenge! She will help… for a price. She says they can negotiate the price later, and the naive and trusting Pinky and Mickey agree and she takes them to Cheese. Cheese helps make a new set of clothes for Pinky as well as Mickey, and tells them they shouldn’t have trusted Rat.. Rat asks for the Pup as payment but Cheese berates her into giving up.. Mickey ends up renting the apartment above Cheeses shop, and Rat does her dealings in the alley out back. Mickey invites Pinky to stay, and the four slowly become good friends and eventually start a band. VERDANT PINK becomes a huge local hit and they keep their success small and manageable, and use the money to travel all over! Running from people angry at Rat for scamming them, Pinky’s royal guard, and some mysterious people from Mickeys past… they just keep moving and jamming!

Mickey is looking at a map trying to figure out where to go, but her dog (who I shall name Duey) suddenly dashes off. She follows after them and finds them barking at a patch of grass. That’s when little fairy Pinky and field mouse Huey appear. Pinky uses her magic to become friends with Duey. She tells Mickey that she’s ran away and needs help starting a new life. Mickey agrees to help out and they go travel to this “Rat” Huey keeps talking about. Turns out Ratt wasn’t a rodent, but instead a shady dealer. Ratt agreed to make a deal with the group, but only if they do her a favor. The group asked it was, but she said that she wouldn’t tell them until they got the proper outfits. “But don’t worry, I got just the right person to help you”, Ratt said. The person turned out to be an eccentric seamstress named Cheese, who also turned out to be Ratt’s girlfriend. So the group went to Cheese’s shop and brought new outfits. When they went back to Ratt and asked her what their task was. Ratt said, “Yeah I got nothing for you. Just wanted to help out my girlfriend’s business.” Another poor soul tricked by Ratt. Here's an idea for an episode: Google Translate Character Design Take a random character's physical description and run it through Google Translate several times. The artists then have to make a character based on the new description. The characters can be from anything; books, anime, cartoons, movies, etc. For added fun, specify which show the character is from and draw the character in that style for an OC challenge.

What I learned from Drawfee today: Diminutive = mouse. Also, it's really great seeing these speed draws and watching them all do art in their own methods/styles. A very different atmosphere from the regular Drawfee episodes. It's just a fun time with them all recognizing and celebrating each other's talents. One day I wish I could just crank out perfectly accurate animals like Nathan, or the immediately characterized expressions and linework Jacob does, that effortless gesture work and style choices Karina makes, and just Julia's never ending ability to make anything look amazing. Now I'm thinking of an episode challenge where they all are working on the same drawing but each of them contributes what they believe to be their strongest talents. 100% sold on this idea.

On a personal note, my spouse was watching this over my shoulder and when Karina was describing her character, he said "Oh, that's you," and I laughed, because he's right. I've got fabric everywhere it can possibly be, an unusual, me-made wardrobe, chronic illness and pain that causes fatigue, and the bruises to prove the clumsiness!

If someone showed me Julia’s and asked me to guess the artist, I’d still guess Julia. It’s such a departure from her style in a way that keeps the big elements of that style in a recognizable but subtle way. Also Nathan needs to be more proud of his art. Jacob’s was banger and Karina’s is someone I’d hang with 100%. I just imagine Ratt visiting Cheese after a long day and them just talking for hours into the night while Cheese worked on a new outfit, Pinky on her head next to the hair bow. Then Mickey’s dog bounds in and she shows up late with some snacks she made, her neglecting to mention she had made more but she and her dog had ate half of them on the way there. Adorable. These were all great!

Hear me out: Mickey gets lost in the middle of nowhere & meets Pinkie escaping on Hugh back from her fairy kingdom (obviously, Mickey thinks she’s a hallucination - think Patton Oswald unicorn show). She decided to take Pinkie and Hugh with her on her journey to the city, she moves into the apartment she has bought above a store next door to Cheese’s tailor shop - Cheese Cloths. In the alley between the two stores, Ratt (unbeknownst to her girlfriend, Cheese, next door) makes dodgy deals with fairytale creatures - keeping secrets and running errands for a hefty price, and she don’t just mean cash. Anyway I’m thinking it becomes a while thing where Mickey has to keep Pinkie hidden from Ratt (since all Ratt’s regulars have mentioned the fairy Princess is missing, and she knows they’d pay well to be the one bringing Pinkie home) while also maybe working for Cheese as an assistant/organizer/chaos controller. Either that or the store she moves into next door is a cafe and it becomes a coffee shop AU. …BRB I’m gonna write a thing

Drawing animal types from anatomy/skeletal references is a really good way to draw them in whatever pose or scenario you want/ you can apply for instance the rules of a horse’s anatomy and kind of apply it to other hoofed animals. It can be tedious at first to figure out how the bodies move and bend but once you understand it- drawing them in the future is so much easier to comprehend! If you’re interested in the advice, that is :) if you’re just here to compliment Nathan then that’s wonderful and I am so sorry for over explaining that lol but it was a helpful thing for me!

Story Concept: Mickey, on her way to the big city to find something (idk) when her car breaks down in a field. She finds Pinkie who is promises to crawl in there and fix her car in exchange for a ride away from the field. Mickey agrees. They drive into the city and meet Cheese the eccentric clothing designer who upon hearing that Mickey is looking for something (probably illegal idk), introduces her to her girlfriend Rat. The 4 meet up and chaos ensues.

(Even if something better comes out of it as a result) Too critic with things and thinking other's wouldn't like it, when in reality they even compliment it. Everyone sees things differently. Different things are being liked and unliked by a bunch of different people. Just remember one thing artists!: if you like something don't be affraid to keep it. It will find the right audience too.
