they used to make animations for most legendary cards. but people complained alot since it fun to see it a couple of times but on the 300th time, people alsp complained that it made the game slow. and apparently its not great for mobile. even Elish norn mother of machines doesn't have an animation. I would have prefered a turn animations off feature but nope they just cut everything

I think the animations are cool, but I thought changing the destroy animation to be slower than the damage ping was a deliberate weird move The comment about atraxa is a bit aggressive lol

Right? Feels like really bad planning to me. It doesn't sit right with me that there is a brand new card in standard that allows you to fetch cards that don't even exist in the game... They should have revealed Battle card type in the same set as the set where Battle cards actually exist?! Just comes off really crappy to me. Like, really... Atraxa has been completely wasted here. She's basically a more expensive Niv Mizzet Reborn... The only thing new and interesting about her is her reference to Battle cards... But we'll have to wait and see until a later date (MONTHS down the line) what these cards even are... So her only interesting feature, we don't even get to see in action for MONTHS at the minimum. Sorry, but that's really bad design imo.

At the end of match 2 you mis sequenced the play it didn’t matter but if they had a planeswalker edict effect then you would have been dead to the blitzed underdog you should have activated the celstus then played teferi who slows the sunset. (It didn’t matter but you usually call those out and I just happened to catch it but new cards and all) fantastic video overall

yes, and no. at the time he did that play, the opponent was at 2 life, so blitzing the underdog at that point wasn't possible, even if VD was left open. but i also think i would have gone celestus first, then teferi into immediately using tefs ability.

Drag to the Bottom is sometimes too slow so I’ve been happy with Path of Peril. Unless you want to play something like Kami War I haven’t felt a strong need to add red. But if you really want those one mana bindings go for it!

It's basically an advertisement for the set, so if the content creators have to play 15+ games to get 5 that are watchable, so their experience is way less positive. If the point is to experiment, why not take an extra minute to get to the end of the game and really limit test the deck ?

Playing 3x Obliterator in one game is basically the MTGA way of handholding you to win the game. Unfortunately, your opponent knows how to play his cards, and sequencing them to provide a lot of value.

Atraxa's power lies in her draw to replace herself. Other than that, she is just a 7/7 beatstick for 7 cmc with no protection or haste. So if for example, Atraxa ETB don't proc, that means you just spent 7 mana play a creature that dies to Go for the Throat.

I actually thought Atraxa over performed in this showcase. Just seemed game ending every time to get that much card draw on a big body with lifelink. If she lives, the game is over, which is quite a bit different than silver scrutiny which doesn't affect the board in any way. She also sees more cards than silver scrutiny for 7 mana and sometimes even draws one more. I would be very surprised if Atraxa isn't competitive in standard. Reminds me a bit of Sphinx's revelation in that the life gain gives you the time to deploy overwhelming card advantage. She definitely won't be as effective against decks that are packing a lot of hard removal, but burn based removal or -x/-x effects like harvester are quite ineffective. Ultimately, she's a silver scrutiny with massive upside in the right shell which is pretty darn good.

@@brianh5844 Atraxa, in a vacuum is competitive. The problem is her deck. Here's the thing. Five colored deck can only works on MTG Arena because of the game's land draw algorithm. Trying to play it on paper is a total nightmare. The deck performance agains mana and color screw is abysmal.
