The Ventura vibe has a wet/dry knob on it so you can control the amount of effect , and if you hold the pedal down it ramps up the speed and when you let go of the pedal it slows down. It also has the option of being stereo in and out.... It's actually an amazing pedal for the money
@mattgilbert73474 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The Univibe tone is really good, sounds legit. The Vibrato can sound amazing if you set it "just so".

Just rediscovering this two years later. I added some very subtle vibrato to my clean sound and now I don't know if I'll ever turn it off. Adds so much depth and dimension without sounding "like an effect." Awesome.

I've got the TC Triple Delay and the Alter Ego x4. The AE is a fantastic for my ambient stuff and the Triple for weirder stuff but my Obscura is on most of the time tbh. It's so flexible without having to resort to a toneprint editor like the TC pedals. Anything you want is right there and I love its' feedback loop and the weird sounds it makes when you speed up or slow down. Check it out...you won't regret it ;)

To my surprise, the shows on modulation effects like this one, have been my favorites. And when I opened it up this morning I thought vibrato pedals, lame. Who uses a vibrato pedal? BB King don't need no stinkin' vibrato pedal. Vibrato is in your fingers. But I'm watching this video and I hear tons of sounds that I hear on albums, and I say oh, that's what you can do with a vibrato pedal. And the Robert Cray stuff- at first I thought Robert Cray doesn't use a vibrato pedal, he's a bluesman, with tone and vibrato in his fingers. But sure enough, there it was. Very nice.
@markwalsham71157 жыл бұрын
When I last saw Robert Cray he was using Matchless amps, and it sounded very good indeed. I had not equated him using a vibe pedal, but now I can hear from Mick's playing that there is an element of that in his sound. Awesome. Great video guys.

I keep confusing myself... Every time I listen to a Steven Wilson album, I find myself wanting a vibrato pedal. Then I go to KZbin and start watching pedal demos, and I don't want one anymore. So it's either Steven Wilson in particular or the full band setting in general that makes it sound good to me, I think. And since I'm not Steven Wilson, and in a band setting I'm usually a drummer and not a guitarist, I don't think vibrato pedals are for me. But I'll probably listen to a Steven Wilson song later today and change my mind. Again.

I have modded my EHX small clone with a switch to make it a vibrato. Ever since your video about clean tones and adding movement to it, I've had it in vibrato mode very subtley. It's on all the time and I love this effect now.
@darwinsaye Жыл бұрын
One thing that I wish was more common on vibrato effects is a random wave or sample and hold type of LFO function so that the frequency and rate would vary randomly and sound more like random tape wow and flutter. I currently try to emulate that sound with two vibratos in series set at different rates and depths.

Get the Boonar for multihead options & rhythmic repeats. Get an Alter Ego X4 if you want the most value for vintage-inspired algorithms. If the X4 is too big for your pedal board, then consider the Catalinbread Echorec. ---I have all of these + the Echosex, and that's the simplest way I can break it down. The Nemesis now has an Echorec setting, too, but I haven't downloaded it ---it sounds decent online, but not quite there. Of course the new Empress EchoSystem is also supposed to have multihead options. I plan to acquire 1 or 2 of the new T-Rex Binson Echorecs when they are unveiled late summer/fall, but obviously that's not in everyone's budget. I plan on keeping all the Binson tributes I already have though---it's ultimately about usefulness, not about a perfect emulation.

I use the Binson-style delays on the Keeley Dark Side and a DD7. Planning to upgrade to a Strymon El Capistan, which has a multi-head mode and sounds beautiful.

Just to possibly clear this up... I don't know of SRV ever using a traditional Leslie such as a 122, but he did use a Fender Vibratone (basically a Leslie 16 which has a single 10" speaker and a rotating baffle). Plus he always played through multiple amps so it was never just the Vibratone signal being heard. The bigger Leslies create a very different sound; think David Gilmour or the Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds".

I didn't get vibrato at all for such a long time. Phasing, yes; flanging, sure; chorusing, absolutely. That's how it was until I tried to play bits from Hand. Cannot. Erase., notably the clean picked arpeggios section in the middle of Happy Returns. I dialled in a sound on my TC rack unit (don't hate me) and loved it. I've bought a couple of vibrato pedals since then to play with. Honourable mention for the affordable Marshall Vibratrem if you're building a small board and need occasional vibrato and tremolo, because it allows switching between the two with really usable common settings.

The only actual vibrato pedal i own is a tc shaker. And ive got that tone printed to be a chorus and( an at least a passable) "univibe" lightly phased pedal. Any good flanger or phaser should be able to Mimic vibratto, you just dial down the "aditional" effect & turn the mix to 100%, the tric works for chorus to just turn down the mix. No its not " perfect but its damn well close on most pedals. And most new choruses that are worth owning will have a mix knob .vibratto is just like " half an effect".

Yeah Leo Fender confused Tremolo and Vibrato, not sure if it was done on purpose but I've heard that it was intentional. So the Tremolo on a Strat is called just that when in fact it's a Vibrato and the Vibrato on the amps is called Vibrato when its Tremolo. I think that confused many people over the years. Vibrato is pitch modulation where Tremolo is volume modulation.
@STRATOHOLICRichman7 жыл бұрын
Ok you guys did explain it so I guess one can read it if the want LOL

Mick you're pretty much spot on avout Cray. I work at a music venue over in the states and have been lucky enough to meet him several times and chat guitars and gear. He is still currently using two matchless amps with a vibro king in the middle which is giving the vibrato, not the matchless amps. He currently isn't using any pedals either
@martymcfly29367 жыл бұрын
Another musical example of vibrato use is Neil Young. He always has a Magnatone amp with the vibrato on in a sort of wet amp/dry amp set up. I believe the Magnatone amp receives a padded output from his famous saggy Fender Deluxe...then there was an old Baldwin solid-state amp in the mix too, adding a buzzy fuzz type sound (seems like I might have heard that the Baldwin ss amp was replaced with a Mesa amp of some kind...maybe).

unless you're an avid post-rock or ambient experimentalist (or making a demonstrative video series), even spending that much on pedals is pretty decadent to be honest. if you have more than half a dozen pedals on your board you're probably only using half of them because they're there. get a nice dry tone and stick to a semi-consistent idea of the sound you're after. to be fair though i never buy pedals retail. if you're doing that then £500 might not get you much more than a tuner and a metal zone..
