Never been trout fishing, never had an interest but I love watching Graeme fishing for them. The lakes looked beautiful, well maintained and I observed no litter. It's obviously run by someone that likes to please its customers and provide additional little touches that enhance the experience of anglers. Your filming shows us what a lovely unspoilt fishery this is. The time and effort you put into these videos makes a lot of people happy, thanks as always for posting.

The pretty flower is purple loosestrife. A UK native found near rivers and lakes in the second half of summer. It was accidentally introduced in the USA where it's considered an invasive pest.

The big secret that the PROS don’t want you to know: set the hook when the float goes under the water. Tight lines!
@klick3507
@klick3507 4 жыл бұрын
Don’t strike till the float been under for at least two seconds make sure the fish hasn’t swallowed the hook otherwise if you haven’t got a disgorger than the fish is going to die wether you let it go or not 👍

Job well done Graeme. What a pleasant change to see an accomplished fisherman push himself to new limits, and reach them. And, oh boy, them there trout regardless of size were all beautiful. The last one looked a bit of an old warrior. The flying ant was better than I anticipated. I do coarse fishing with fly gear from time to time. I find that daddy long legs out perform most other patterns on the Fleet to Farnborough stretch of the "basie". Picking out the bigger Rudd and Roach.

Great video as usual. You seem to have recurring issues with a couple of things and I'm surprised a man of your resourcefulness hasn't sorted them. Firstly you can buy caps with GoPro mounts on top of the peak but also lots of YT videos on how to make your own, even better! Secondly you can get polarizing filters for GoPro and other cameras so we could hopefully see more of what you can see.

Not being disrespectful to Graham, there are so many fish bigger than 4lb at Rockbourne. Me and my mate fished the complex for 2 years . Not only is it stunning! and those that it run are helpful if you ask for advice they give it ! My mates best is 11lb and mine is nine and three quarters. Such a loverly venue. My only advice would be .... big trout like big flies ! I've done the nymph flies and have caught but not the big fish .
@TAFishing
@TAFishing 4 жыл бұрын
But many fisheries have limits on the size of the fly you can use, it might be not more than one inch overall dressing,or a limit on hook size. Certainly worth checking on whichever fishery is visited. My target was not catching a trout over 4lbs,it was catching a trout on 4 different flies and different outfits.Catching double figure trout is no more hard than regular trout.You just need to locate them and correctly present the fly.

Graeme, i was having an interesting conversation with the owner of some ponds i fish regularly. Every pond except the overstocked carp pond was fishing terribly and had for days. He said it happens roughly every august, with the natural hatching of insects and other natural foods, plus the crazy amounts of fry to eat they just go off bait. The info seems to track based on my own fishing experience, but i've only fished just over 2 years. What do you think? Anyone else feel free to add your thoughts
@TAFishing
@TAFishing 4 жыл бұрын
Yes,August can be a tough month.I think its water temps and I try to stay away from stillwaters for that reason. Better fishing the rivers where the temps are cooler and the fish might feed.

I am 53 years-old, I started fishing at 10 years-old with my father and I've learn a lot from your videos (very instructive), mainly fly fishing, which is a new technique for me (I have more experience with float fishing!!). After my father passed away (5 years ago), I have been fishing more and more, perhaps remembering how fun and relaxing this sport is. Thank you so much Graeme, for helping me (re) start over. Stock ponds but none we have to pay for?Also there were a couple where you had to buy a license for the day- we are ignorant in this topic as well !! An explanation would be greatly appreciated. Hi Graeme love the videos. I do have a question though about the lightweight outfit you got the big fish on. The rod said 4/5 weight so isn’t that a WF5 and DT4. I only ask because if it is a true 4 weight I have been doing the wrong line set up for years. Many thanks and keep up the videos
@TAFishing
@TAFishing 4 жыл бұрын
You can put what line you want on the reel,its the rod that will decide what weight it likes stressing under. A general rule seems to be if you have a 4-weight advisory on a rod you should up the line weight to a 5. But then I don't adhere to tackle rules from manufacturers,I fish with anything and everything that catches me a fish.

It's such a shame that it's necessary to pursue stocked fish in order to 'fly fish' for trout, but that's the way the world turns, I suppose.
@UKSpearo
@UKSpearo 4 жыл бұрын
You can fly fish wild trout out of the rivers too. Its not necessary to pursue only stocked trout to fly fish, just much simpler 😁 True wild trout are fewer and further between, and tend to be harder to catch is all. I've fly fished on the river Usk a few times and had brown trout. My dad has had sea trout on the Usk and Wye aswell as lots of brown trout.

@@TAFishing Fair enough Graeme... Am based in Dublin and have fished a few fisheries in Ireland but different rules you understand. Always very enjoyable, my best rainbow was a 16lb'r! Small black buzzer on the dropper and much luck was had to have landed the brute. The fight was mostly big head shaking compared to the feisty 3/5 lb'rs that are smashing to play. Jasus me arm!
