Yep looks like Blue Green algae,it can be dangerous due to it being toxic. Lake with large blooms of it are usually shut or no fishing and dogs allowed until it clears up.

Thanks, I only just made it with this week's film as so much property stuff to do. I will still try a midweeker next week though. I'm certainly not fishing in these conditions.

Do you add a ssg or a bb shot to the hair grip, to give it alitte more tension 🤔. As that is what I do with mine, so I can alter the sensitivity.

Blue green algae as a fishery owner myself can not believe they do nothing that's why I use my own landing nets and keepnets. 🎣
@TAFishing Жыл бұрын
I seem to remember some fisheries sink Barley straw bales in the lakes to prevent algae,but I don't know whether that works for the blue-green stuff.
@andy_plainvillelakeyorkbak2828 Жыл бұрын
Not been funny or a no it all but it is dangerous to fish due to oxygen depleciation levels and anything that's is daft enough to drink it will snuff it. Love your vids Just am pash s pal. 🎣👍

Hi Graham Thanks so much for all these vids ... two questions: 1 - how did you fit that rod holder to the trolley handle? and 2 - don't forget the ladies watching your videos... My daughter is also a fisher lady and loves your videos and finds them very helpful - but is a bit put out when you keep saying... " here we go guys" .... don't forget the girlies Graham!
@TAFishing11 ай бұрын
A mixture of Araldite and some fishing line whipping a spare rod holder bar on. Then I fit the handle in the barrow slot upside down.

Bream have fallen from fashion. Back in the 1970s the weeklies were full of dustbin lids from "a Shropshire mere", or "a Staffordshire mere". How many anglers would list bream as their favourite fish, I wonder?
@candypiker9746 Жыл бұрын
First fish I ever caught was a bream, so they hold a special place in my heart.

Graham another good one Question…… does frozen corn have a tendency to float as I’ve found the canned stuff does if not used & frozen ? My wife walks faster when we cross any bridges !!!
@TAFishing Жыл бұрын
Corn needs thawing out well before using or the ice in it makes it float. Best way is to put some in a bait tub of water,that way it will thaw out but you can see which grains are floating with ice still in them.

bobbins back in a day were hairgrips pushed through wine corks ....course back in the "proper days" bite alartms didnt exist
@TAFishing Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I am old enough to remember that corks and hairgrip era..First alarm I had was the famous "Heron"..
@rickeidam328710 ай бұрын
I dont bother with bobbins, just let the line run through the rollers and the alarm still squeals when a fish is hooked.
@TAFishing10 ай бұрын
I agree in a way,I think they are usually up with the bait and away,but the use of a bobbin does indicate a drop-back bite when the fish picks up and moves towards you.

what lake is that at buryhill?
@jonfisher9214 Жыл бұрын
It's the Southern end of the old lake. Had my PB Pike from there. It's closed for fishing now but Graeme obviously knows the right people to still have access.
@Catonkey1 Жыл бұрын
this video footage is probably a couple of months old...
@TAFishing Жыл бұрын
Sorry,I realise you think I had special access but I don't,its a film I kept back when I heard they were closing . I have I believe 2 other films I hold in the files so when you see it you won't need to comment about "knowing the right people" etc...You obviously never watched the film as you will see Dave's interview and the tackle shop in there,plus hear other anglers talking in the car park..No need to apologise .But best to watch the film entirely before hitting the keyboard...

Greame i do believe in ground bait and boilies but using just sweetcorn in my opinion is enough, all them boilies and pellets especially for normal commercial fishing is just a money making bussiness for big companies and majority are falling for it, would only use 2mm pellets in method feeder just for feeder alone
@TAFishing Жыл бұрын
You could be right but there is a train of thought that says if everyone is throwing in say boilies the fish become preoccupied with them so there is more chance of success using a same or similar bait. After the fish get hammered and become wary then that is the time to try a change of bait . There is a huge amount of different baits in the Tackle shop,every time I go in I wonder how a beginner even starts to know which one to use. And I also wonder how come I can use baits like maggots,corn,worms and bread yet still catch fish as we did 60 years ago ?? One thing I can see a need for is the hard baits so the Crayfish don't eat everything and I sit there with a bare hook (and have done until I was told !!)
