I love how opposite their tastes are - Osgood is clearly a fan of historic cinema and Maika is much more contemporary. Osgood is all about the artistry and filmmaking decisions while Maika is just like "I love a good twist." Both equally as valid! Can't wait to see how their worlds collide in the film.

I know Osgood has already few movies under his belt, but I hope this is actually the start of an even longer list of projects to come from him, I think he has a really clear sense of what he wants from his movies and he knows horror very well to make stuff that is truly scary and at least somewhat unique to the usual horror movies we see.

I began to dispute Maika's level of horror understanding after Black bear (which I also loved and think Plaza should be going into any audition from that saying, y'all want me in another mother role already - mmkk I'm gonna show you something from Black bear) and then she picked the quintessential 80s slasher. Loved her in 'Watcher' and with this Longlegs role she clearly has her finger on the pulse big time, as well as her agent

@zonastarwars4397 6 ай бұрын
@@nl3064 it's so ironic how you are annoyed by pseudo intellectualism when you are the one saying "movie bad" with 0 arguments haha. Not only that, but you started this by criticizing someone else's personal subjective taste because you couldn't handle the praise it gets lmao talk about being a film bro. i understand why someone wouldn't like it, but acting like there's nothing of value in it is beyond pretentious. the cinematography, the locations, the plot, the cosmic horror combined with the horror of more personal human issues, etc. Come on now, if you can't see anything good with it you are trying way to hard to be an ass.
@nl3064
@nl3064 6 ай бұрын
@zonastarwars4397 I gave you a couple reasons; the hilariously bad acting and plain, unremarkable Cinematography standard for the eighties. And while I personally love Cosmic Horror (huge fan of Lovecraft)...how does that instantly make Possession good? I'm sick of this modern mentality of "oh, the theme/concept automatically makes up for mediocre filmmmaking!" Oh, it has _personal human issues_ , oh well! That makes the film itself so remarkable then! Cosmic horror. Possession is bordering on almost a knock-off of Arthur Machen's novella The Great God Pan - which was (apart from a pretty good first quarter of the story) itself a pretty mediocre Cosmic Horror/ Weird Horror novella. Possession itself is poor as cosmic horror, since it tells a pretty small scale, insignificant story that basically amounts to a Body Snatchers scenario...with only one case of replacement...? There's barely anything outlandish or alien about it. Nothing to bend the mind, as is a typical aim of Cosmic Horror. Honestly, I really struggled to remember this movie. It was that forgettable. While writing this, I put it on again...and really struggled to make sense of the plot. It's a complete, poorly slapped together mess to cap everything off. It's not being an ass when you can't see anything good in something that's not good.

Monroe doesn’t look the same. Hollywood got to her. I have less respect for her. She’s done something drastic to change her facial features. She looks like a different person than she did in It Follows. It’s weird how after a while in Hollywood, they start changing their looks. And not for the better. Monroe is only a few years away from plastic surgery that will horrifyingly alter her image beyond REPAIR.
