VERY true. They aren't evil, but sharks are predators. Although, interestingly in these cases at least two of the stories involed someone kicking a shark before being bitten and somebody hooking a shark and dragging it to the boat before being bitten. So, that may have been partially defensive rather than hunting behavior. Glad everybody survived at least.

Yikes! I visited family on Cape Cod a few years back and they've got great white shark warning signs posted at the entrance to all the paid access beaches, and people have an app that shows recent shark sightings around the Cape so you can decide if you want to risk going in the water. The water is incredibly murky off the Cape too, you'd never see it coming.

We could enjoy the shore lines again if crazies didn't limit shark fishing. Protecting sharks is insane, unAmerican, looney as all get-out, nonsensical and terribly wrong. If sharks are hunted, they learn to stay away. Those who say the sharks were here first makes sense if you don't think about the fact that cooties, lice in the underclothes were also here first. Don't be that person. I grew up in safety because that was a time when the only place a shark was allowed was away from humans or on the plate as fish sticks. Yumm.

He tells me sharks don’t attack people and that Hollywood has over exaggerated sharks and other water creatures. I’m just like that’s fine but all it takes is one incident. With my luck the one time I go diving is that time I’ll have to fight off sharks. Even the most experienced diver is fair game in an open ocean for sharks.

Sharks attack people. I wouldn't listen to anyone who says they don't. The movie Jaws itself was based on a true series of attacks on the East Coast in the 1920s. It is true it's usually a case of them mistaking you for something else, but that offers little consolation when they swim off with your leg.

Probably has something to do with migration patterns, amount of fish/seals/shark food in the area and water temperature. Not all, but lots of sharks prefer warmer water so it makes sense why Florida, South Africa, etc have more shark activity. I’ve swam in the ocean a lot in warm countries and haven’t had any issues, but it’s smart to ask the locals or watch where they swim. Don’t swim at dusk because that’s feeding time for sharks and stay in the flag lines lifeguards have set out if there are any. Don’t fish in the same area you or other people are swimming and avoid wearing shiny jewelry in the water(that’s more for barracudas than sharks). Sometimes a storm will cause a swell and that can bring more sharks (and jellyfish) in because more fish will flock to the area. Try not to worry too much and just enjoy your time at the beach!

@@Beelzebubby91 I don't say you're wrong, but here are some more points to consider. The Mediterranean is quite warm, and it seems that, there, sharks are less of an issue, despite tons of people swimming there. Also, at least if you believe the locals (and I think the statistics say the same thing, whether they're correct is another point), Cuba hardly ever has shark attacks, despite being close to Florida. I think one of the best things to do is probably to swim in a group.

This just shows how important drones are. Unfortunately, Congress is currently making the only viable drone manufacturer - DJI - banned right now. This will make it illegal for DJI drones to be used by anyone, and you can see how important it would be to have one flying overhead of a beach to spot sharks in the area. :DJI is the only company supplying viable drones which are precise, maneuverable, affordable and purchased by police, fire, rescue, real estate photographers, industrial, commercial, utilities and building inspectors. although true, what you say is not always the case. I invite you to find out about shark attacks on Reunion Island. Sometimes there is real predation on humans
