For it is good to be children sometimes, and never better than at Christmas.

My group can make watching paint dry a laugh, but we were pretty much laughing and joking around in spite of the game rather than because of it. They were all quite happy to move on to something different.

We've been playing Cheating Moths, Scout and Flip7 recently. They are pretty light games for the family. Cheating Moths in particular is fun nonsense with kids. Grindhouse looks interesting.

I've never heard of Cheating Moths, I will have to look it up. Is Scout the circus-themed one?
@superspecky4eyes2 күн бұрын
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring Yes, Scout is the circus themed one but it has little to do with the game. Cheating Moth is a pretty basic card game but the twist is the cheating aspect. It always devolves into chaos, and the moth cards will get lost/bent/ripped but its fun nonetheless.

I'm not a big party game fan. I'm more of the opinion that if we got to gether to play some games, then we should play something substantial. The only real "party game" adjacent thing I play regularly would be "Marrying Mr Darcy," a Pride and Prejudice themed card game that turned out to be a lot of fun. We really get into playing the roles of regency ladies (being a bunch of roleplayers at heart.) so we enjoy ourselves. On Boxing Day, I have my yearly game of War of the Ring, so that's good.

Yeah. My Christmas party really isn't a good fit for the more substantial games you might normally see on the channel. Sometimes there are people who aren't into games all that much, sometimes I haven't seen some of the guests for a while so there is a lot of catching up to do, there's party food and music, and my kids will be running around the place. It becomes an evening of the games that normally get played at the end of the evening, after the main event. I'm lucky that I get to play games very frequently, and my main group will be back to dungeon plunging and adventuring soon enough!

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring my group of friends are predominantly gamers so all our gatherings tend to be gaming ones. That and I don't have small children any more.
