Honestly, I kinda like the idea of a live action Ninjago movie. The ninja get turned into humans and have to learn how to operate in human bodies. I wouldn't pull a Lego movie though and show the ninja has just been toys the whole time because that's weird to think about. I'd do it more Across the Spider-Verse style were in there universe they just happen to be Legos.

Piece by Piece’s success Won’t be determined by its financial performance- it was made for Award season. That’s the reason it debut at TIFF. The reason it was released this fall in North America is so that it qualifies for the upcoming award season . And then is being released worldwide after the Oscars next year. It’s already been nominated for two critics choice awards.

They seriously painted themselves into a live-action corner here. Unless Universal is counting stop-motion animation as live-action - which most studios don't - pretty much their only option is movies based on original themes. And Ninjago and Dreamzzz are really the only two that are actually recent, relevant, and popular enough to turn into movies. And I don't think the DC directors thread leads anywhere, because something like a live-action LEGO Batman Movie would literally just be a normal Batman Movie. Universal isn't onto something, they're ON something.

Live-action LEGO movies don’t seem entirely bad… yet. I imagine them basically having a bunch of A-list celebrities acting and moving like they’re kids playing with LEGO and telling a story. There’d be occasional cutaways to reality for the sake of dramatic irony- a big intense action scene would cut away to two kids honking two minifigures against each other. It could go very wrong, but it could also go very right.

No no no no no no no........ This has me really worried about Ninjago. In case people haven't noticed live action adaptations of cartoons have been extremely hit and miss, more miss than hit recently. And I get it for, Kevin and Dan this was their baby, but Ninjago is not something that will translate well to the big screen. And you saw how the original Lego Ninjago movie flopped......... Do they really think a live-action more expensive one is somehow going to make money??

The only LEGO theme I could really see working in live action is BIONICLE. Even that would most likely be a CGI heavy thing like the "live action" Lion King, but I'd love to see some creative puppet and animatronic work like The Dark Crystal or FNAF.

The fact that they’re going to be live action is already a bad sign right off the bat. Although, maybe they can do something artistically unique and interesting with the medium in mind? It will have to depend on the premise of the movies, so we’ll have to wait for some trailers to get a good idea of what each of these films will really be about.
