I never shall forget that Dubai stayed open while everyone else was on lockdown. And that I dealt with Asians, Europeans, and Africans in Dubai, all wanting to make money. Thank you Dubai. Dubai now is like the Golden Age of NYC. Yes, I love other cities. But all cites closed, cruise ships parked, But Dubai stayed open. The party never stops in Dubai. Heads up for everyone considering Milan… in Italy there is a very strict law about “esterovestizione” (basically owning a company that is registered and pays taxes abroad, but you’re managing it from Italy). Every nation has similar laws about it but Italy is particularly strict on it. Basically, If you own a foreign company more than 49.9% and have an active control and management in it, it’s an Italian company, period. Also, if they find you doing some esterovestizione, it’s a very big crime and you could go to prison. Even if you have the lump sum taxation, you’ll have to register your company in Italy… which has a 27.9% corporation tax + a lot of other problems (things like… you have to anticipate your taxes for the following year). So I’d suggest moving to Italy with the lump sum taxation only if your income is truly passive. (Source: I’m Italian)

Kuala Lumpur is more of a 'complete' City with a very deep and diversified cultural history. It also has a more natural eco system and is very green. You will also find absolutely excellent food in KL, almost as much diversity as in Dubai, but more than enough for you no matter what cuisine you like. It is also full of very friendly and welcoming people, not as pretentious as in Dubai. Perhaps the biggest plus is that all this beauty and culture comes at a much lower cost of living than in Dubai where things are becoming outrageously expensive to the point of almost becoming a deterrent. You are also closer to Thailand/Singapore/Vietnam/China/Japan and that whole region, but of course you are further away from Europe. Having said that, you will find daily direct flights to most of the major European capitals, so in truth it is really a non-issue.

If Malaysia had been better (cheaper), for people wanting to move there (Malaysia as a second home programme), it would have been better. You forgot to mention just one thing to get UAE residence it's very easy takes few days sitting inside UAE, it is very cheap as compared to other countries and the biggest plus is the security you get in UAE is unmatched to any of the places you mentioned. In Dubai you can leave a million dollars/euros in you super car with the keys inside and powered on, no one would ever dare to touch it, you can drop anything anywhere and you'll find it right there, this is the reason why people prefer Dubai, specifically the people who are into cash rich business.

For me zero taxes no complications in Dubai is a lot easier than figuring out whether or not you're tax free in KL. I love KL but it's not a simple tax free place. Territorial tax is complicated freezone is simple. Its gonna be a lot cheaper in KL than Dubai but it's still a developing country (it's one of the most developed developing countries that). Italy is my favorite country in the world but do I wanna be a resident there? Probably not. Tax wise I think Dubai is the best situation for me. 3 months of the year go to Thailand visa free come back to the UAE when the hot season is over.

I think you've missed a few of the MANY reasons why Dubai is the best place to live. Effectively, zero crime. In any of the areas that you would spend time in, the crime rate is zero. Second, it's one of the most family friendly places on earth and everything is kid friend,. Third, you won't even believe how little bureaucracy they have there until you experience it. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to do "something" and had to ask them before leaving, is that it? Really? No other desk to go to? No other papers to file? They say, nope, that's it. Lastly, while the other places you mentioned do have entrepreneurs and social networks if you seek them out, Dubai is just on another level. There's a dozen reasons why Dubai is quickly moving towards being the best city on earth.

don't worry, it's not happening any time soon, it's not so easy to create a world currency, it takes decades of building trust and confidence, it takes free trade of that currency, such a currency has to have been tried and tested in good times and bad, it takes many things, and it's not just about trade but also reserves, few countries even dared switch to Euro, let alone the yuan, especially with huge economic challenges China is facing.
