Truly enjoy Four Roses - Small Batch Select and Single Barrel. Don’t see many single barrel store picks though - usually ~$90-$100 over the past couple years. This limited offering has been at the local bottle shop for $460 over the past couple years. I’ll live vicariously through The Mash & Drum.

Thank you for the great content. Your tasting notes are spot on with my experience. The cherry, vanilla & cinnamon are most prominent to my taste. The rye spice seamed to take a backseat. What stood out most, for me, in this years release was the incredible mouth feel. The first descriptor that comes to mind would be velvety. It's not overly oily but felt like heaven on my tongue.

Always love your tasting notes. I would LOVE to get my hands on one of these some day. Four Roses was the first bourbon I ever had that made me go, "oh, wow, bourbon can be really great huh?". I really appreciate your comment about the oak not getting too strong, I feel like people often get so excited about age that they ignore the negatives.

stumbled on two bottles at my local market back in December. they rang up at $399 each and I couldn't do it,.. having never tried it before and never paid north of $200 for anything prior. i wish Four Roses put out more high proof options in my area (St. Louis, MO)

I can go and buy pour of most any allocated whiskey in Dallas Tx for between $50-$75. I’ve never seen any four roses LE on those shelves not once, subsequently I’ve never seen a bottle or had a pour of any year. Thanks for sharing your super palate and your honest opinions.

Nailed it! I get tons of berries and cream with mine, but I agree, it just didn't hold up in my blind battle... But still a wonderful pour! Cheers Jason 🥃 Great review!

I thought it was great. You can definitely taste the age on it but in a good way. I think last years was better but still a bourbon I wouldn't miss if given the opportunity to buy a bottle.

Was lucky enough to get almost 5000 bottles allocated to the UK. Very nice but much prefer the 2021 and 2018 to this one

When I tried the 22 LE, I thought it was very different from the 21. Just a lot fruitier and not really showing the age. Could it be better than the 21? Nope. Side-by-side, the 21 dominated, but I still love the 22. Great release and I agree that secondary prices aren’t horrible on these compared to other LE’s like OFBB, BTAC, or even Parker’s. It could be a volume thing. Not long ago, I saw someone selling the 21 for 325 per, which is not horrible compared to some of the other prices out there. In fact, a Tier 6 with a 12+ year age statement generally sells for more than the LE, which makes no sense.

I have that same hat! A gift from "friends" for my birthday a few years back. Not sure why. Although it's unusual here, we had a local restaurant that had a unicorn night. Bummed me out that the bottles were all opened that night but what an experience. In order of preference: 1. Stagg 2. EHT Barrel Proof 3. Four Roses LE 4. Blanton's Straight from the Barrel 5. Pappy 15 It cost me a small fortune but I've never seen any of these bottles before and may never see them again.The LE was definitely spicy but not overwhelmingly so. The Blanton's definitely benefitted from having some heat.

Local store has it listed for $500, been looking at this forever gonna have to pass because of this video , probably not worth it. They also had the Parkers Heritage double blend for $500
