You have failed to highlight or even mention the grave injustice caused to Justice MTM Laffar by the government not appointing him to the Supreme Court when 4 judges of the Court of Appeal were elevated to the Supreme Court to fill vacancies last month . Justice Laffar was the 3rd in order of seniority and he was bypassed and 2 judges junior to him were instead appointed. As a serious investigative journalist, I expected you to bring this grave travesty of justice to the public domain. Regrettably, you have failed to do so. The government has also failed to impeach the President of the CA, Bandula Nissanka Karunaratne and allowed him to go on leave prior to retirement, instead of forcing him to resign on 31st January. Thus, there is further injustice caused to Justice Laffar who may be compelled to retire as the Acting President of the CA, without allowing him to attain his legitimate aspiration to be appointed as the President of the CA. This is a glaring instance of injustice in the judiciary.
