A realistic prediction would be top 8 by the end of 2022. I watched all his matches this year and the most impressive thing is that he can improve a lot on the net, on the service, on stamina for several matches on successive weeks and of course on managing the games. From the baseline for me is already a top 5, but there's a lot more than that on tennis. I still don't get how he lost with Tiafoe that night. XD

I don’t think he has quality to dominate tennis for years. But for next season even though it will be tough. I can see him challenging for a top 5 position, but he will need to make deeper GS runs at all majors and masters. But with Sinner consistency will be key and that has to be said for all the young players like Alcaraz or Musetti and the original next gen players of Stefanos, Rublev, Zverev and Berrettini. It will be open, competitive and big players like Novak and Nadal won’t be going anywhere for at least 2/3 years providing they are fit. Who knows even Del Potro and more than likely Thiem will return to challenge too and Medvedev looks like he can keep going for another two years. Should be an interesting season.
@franrizzi99983 жыл бұрын
Why do you think he can't dominate? He has everything and a really good mentality, thing that's starting to lack. I'd like to know your opinion
@Nightingale_13 жыл бұрын
@@franrizzi9998 I’m looking at him from a technical standpoint. When I looked at Federer before his breakthrough in 03 Wimbledon, you could see maybe not clearly, but technically he didn’t look complete, he wasn’t hitting every ball efficiently, he didn’t have complete weight transfer or balance in his shots. And even then he was showing great talent, eg, Sampras match. Maybe not consistently back then. But on his good days, the potential was immense. So when he figured out his game in 03, you could see in his shots that he did have solid weight transfer, he was hitting every ball fluidly using every aspect of his body as one into the ball. Once he did, it was obvious, he was out hitting opponents, playing a brand of tennis no one had seen before, he had the whole package. It was unique. Federer had hype, but his tennis did the talking, the media only after his success started following him. With Sinner, I acknowledge he’s a talent, but looking at him technically, he’s already there, there will not be a eureka moment for him, what you see now is what you’ll see ten years from now. He can improve his fitness, gain experience and practice hard. This will help Sinner be in the mix like Medvedev. But there is no special level for him to transform to. Another example was Novak, before 2011, technically he looked off balance and inconsistent, but again immense talent. Then in 2011, it clicked and he was technically a complete player. This is just from my observation. Which doesn’t mean anything. Thanks for asking me for my opinion.
@franrizzi99983 жыл бұрын
@@Nightingale_1 Yea well, I still believe sinner can improve massively his serve and net game, and from backhand and forehand he's already one of the best players in the world. And he has the mentality to achieve big goals, that's something that will make a difference, you see players full of talent like musetti flopping because they have no mentality and they choke. Sinner had that distinctive aspect, and if he keeps improving his physical and serve and net game I believe he can win many grand slams and even be a world number 1, he's a player that can workout also in all of the surfaces, not only hard courts, and we've seen that on clay already. But also, it's a bit unfair you're comparing him to the likes of Federer and Djokovic, because I think we all agree, they'll never be another generation such as the big 3. But in my opinion sinner can be the full complete player if he improves 3 basic stuff, serve, which is alright but I think he can make it even better, the volleys of course, and maybe the slice, it's not used as much in today's tennis, but I think it'd be a key if he learns how and when to use it to slow down the rhythm and then blast a forehand, somewhat like Monfils used to do at a stage of a career. I think sinner can be an absolutely compete player, and he's got the mentality to play in the big stages, we have to remember he's 20 and already won like 5 titles, he's growing and so is his tennis. I think he's one of the big names for the future and he'll surely achieve number 1 at somepoint
@Nightingale_13 жыл бұрын
@@franrizzi9998 He’s got a strong mindset, moves well, but in terms of tennis I don’t really see anything special. Sure, he will be able to improve tactically, and maybe change slightly some techniques. But what you are seeing now is what you will see later on. He will be one of many talented players in the top 30 trying to win competitions all year round once the big 3 retire. To be dominant, Fed, Djokovic and guys like Sampras. Are the best examples of when you get that type of all round complete player that can dominate. All these guys right now don’t have that. To win year in year out. Despite me saying what I’m saying, Sinner still can reach the top if he can work hard and use his experience wisely. But it will be competitive as there are many players that are of the same or slightly better level than he is.

But how many top 10 Have the potential right now to win a GS? Just 4, Djokovic, Daniil, Zverev and Tsitsipas( if he recovers for his injury and mental shock after RG) and Thiem if hi comed back in a good shape. But Berrettini, Hurkacz, Ruud, or even Rublev are at the same level or even less level than Jannik. Off course he has a lot of thinks to improve, and I don’t see him winning a GS even in two years. But I think he could stay in top 10 because he still have a lot of points to win in GS ( remember that during this year he didn’t have so much luck in the draws facing Shapo, Nadal or Zverev all of them before QF)
