To be honest, the problem doesn't come from dressing up. A lot of little girls like dressing up in cute costumes or feeling like a princess, etc. The problem comes from the nature of the competition and the fact that skimpy outfits for CHILDREN are allowed in the competitions and are encouraged in order to get higher scores. If the competitions were just about dressing up in cute costumes, it wouldn't be so bad. Provided the kids would actually WANT to be there and they weren't being encouraged to shake their butts for grown adults judging them based on their looks. These kids are taught that whoever wins is the "prettiest" and all the other girls are "ugly" and that "pretty" means shaking your butt and flirting with judges who are all likely in their 40s. It would be better to just let the kids wear costumes that suited them for their age and are modest. There's nothing wrong with the bling and all that. As long as they like it and the outfits aren't uncomfortable for them (too tight, too heavy, etc) They shouldn't be judged based on how "pretty" they are. They shouldn't be having a crap ton of hair spray in their hair because that's bad for them to constantly be inhaling. It stunts their lungs. They shouldn't be made to go if they don't want to be there. Their routines should be age-appropriate and they should all be reassured that winning isn't everything and that every one of them is beautiful regardless if they win or lose. Some girls do like pageants. Some girls do like dressing up. It's not uncommon for kids to be in competitions at a young age and I don't see anything wrong with it as long as the child enjoys what they're doing. There's soccer, ballet, gymnastics, and other sports, music, kids do compete. Even though pageants aren't a sport, I don't think they'd be bad if they were actually something for the kids participating and not a way for the parents to make money off of their kids and to live their dreams through them. Pageantry, in general, wouldn't be bad at all if it wasn't about objectifying yourself and it was about having fun and just dressing up for a day. Pageants can work. They just need to be reworked so that the kids are having fun and are kept safe and their innocence isn't lost all for a simple competition.
@adqueen25484 жыл бұрын
I always say that beauty pageants should not be banned. Some people are smart, some are sporty, some pretty. But if these were at least trying to be fun for kids, not just there for parents to live out their fantasies on their kids. Just let the kids do their own outfits, let it be fun for the kids

She definitely enjoys the stage and has a lot of charisma. She can definitely do well in drama, dance, or another performing art. There have been beauty queens who use it as a launching point to another career. She could do the same. She has talent and that’s a fact. I hope she improves her behavior though.
