Apbassing, The Wooded Beardsman and I headed out to spend 5 days (of what turned out to be more survival than just camping) on Sunset Lake in Vermont. We wanted to do it more bushcraft-style camping, building shelters, and sleeping on spruce bows in front of a central fire. But just like any good plan, it fell apart when we showed up at our destination and found the lake had 3 inches of slush on it. According to the weather report, it was not likely that the conditions would change, so we made the best of it and set up a shelter with tarps and cots and hammocks. This kept us out of the slush when sleeping, but the rest of the time, it was a task to move around, like always walking on a soft sandy beach. We brought some food, but mostly just ingredients to add to our meals, so we needed to catch fish to round out the dinners. Once again, plans and reality didn't line up exactly as we had hoped, but we still managed to have some fun!

awesome enjoy just rember to keep it clean dont leave it in the sink. Its very hard steel so it tarnises ealily if left wet. I oil mine whenever i sharpen. and alway wasy it and dry it after uses.

The best part of this video is just watching friends out enjoying each other’s company. That ice igloo; Zac your crazy. I only say that because I’m from MN and I know in those temperatures it seems like everything you do gets a bit harder. I’m glad your friend that took a dip was ok and had a dryer close by or that could have been bad. I think maybe your igloo idea was really to get your body moving to generate heat. Watching your vids is always an adventure in its self.

I watched a video on KZbin once about 3 Levels of Ice Sculpting. The 1st Level was the most basic using only hand tools, while the 3rd Level was the most detailed and advanced, using hand and power tools. I believe the Ice Sculptor sculpted a fish and because he was able to use power saw for the 3rd Level, he started off with the initial big rectangular block of ice. Then he took a secondary slightly smaller block of ice. He then use lukewarm water to wet the vertical side of both blocks and connected them side by side. The lukewarm water acted as a glue and as soon as he stuck the 2nd block onto the side of the main block, the water between both blocks instantly froze and they were stuck together. It took like 10-20 seconds and he was able to let go of the 2nd smaller block and it was stuck so well that it didn't slide apart or anything. Then did the same thing on the opposite side of the main block. Then he used a power saw to shape it, where the main block was the body, which the 1st smaller block became the head and the 2nd smaller block became the tail. Anyways, the point is that I believe that y'all should have used water to glue each block together as opposed to using snow like some cement binder.
