Fox Body Mustang Starter Solenoid Relay Replacement

Thanks for posting this video! I had my 1993 2.3 Liter Mustang for 30 years and this is the first time it ever needed the starter relay solenoid replaced. Needed to know how to correctly do it. BIG THUMBS UP!

Is the starter wire the one by its self on the solenoid?

I believe so. I looked quickly and then looked at the diagram.

Just replaced my solenoid. Battery is charged and it turns on, sometimes. Then it clicks sometimes but when it clicks it can still turn on when I turn it on from the solenoid. Any ideas on what can be wrong?

Anyone know what the spark plug cap looking thing that threads onto the solenoid is for? Mine broke I'd like to know please ty

Need a little more info… but I am guessing a boot that prevents arcing

Should starter light turn on with12v light test? My battery is dying I think it may be bad solenoid or wire to starter. Thanks

If you hook the starter light on to your ground post and then touch the probe end to one side of the large solenoid post it should turn on and then you need to put it on the other side of the solenoid and then turn the key and that side should light up.

not really expecting a reply but if there is thatd be awesome, for some reason my hatchback foxbody has a convertible top relay that draws power, i have no idea why i have one because i have a hard top. can i just cut it out?

I’m no expert… But I wonder if they’re using the relay for another purpose? I can check my schematics.

If you already tried to arc across the post, than I would say you have a locked up starter or weak battery.
