My cat was similar when I took her to the vet. She hates going in the box, it's a real challenge to get her in and lock it all up, she then cries all the way there. We got her to the vet and after a quick exam the vet decided the cat needed to stay in for some tests. Our cat then decided to get into the box of her own accord, no doubt thinking she was going home. I almost thought she was going to close the front and lock it herself. I couldn't stop laughing.

When you're calm, an animal will be calm (or at least calmer). And by speaking, it's easier for an animal to recognize that calmness. That doesn't mean they won't be scared, especially a wild animal, but it can still help to de-escalate the encounter.

If the rescuer guy thought he was in any distress he would have brought it back to the clinic, I'm guessing the fox came in because it was curious and had probably spent a lot of time panicking when it couldn't get out, making it tired and hence the slow movements
@urbanimage8 жыл бұрын
I'm puzzled as why people are nervous or frighten by foxes. You really don't have to observe them for very long to see that they are fairly timid and harmless unless you were to do something stupid.
@urbanimage8 жыл бұрын
Depends a lot on how you deal / approach the fox. If you don't know what your doing or lack confidence / experience then it would be better to keep your distance. Foxes are not dangerous in my experience - have a look at my channel for some of the fox videos. There have been two instances of rabies in the UK in the last 100 years so the chances are pretty small of getting that from a fox.
@13Xerro8 жыл бұрын
You won't get rabies in the UK, there hasn't been a reported case since the early 1900's. But yeah they'll certain bite and claw the hell out of anyone who backs them into a corner.

Just for those who are asking - we could indeed have used gloves to scruff it, but young foxes stress easily at that sort of close contact, and often urinate and defecate everywhere as a result! We didn't want to leave a mess on the home owners nice white carpet, so we decided the grasper (which does not hurt the fox) was the best option to minimise stress. The carpet was left unmarked! :)

Hello wildlife aid. I currently have multiple foxes around our house. They have been there for many years. Obviously different ones. It has recently been attacking wild pheasants and we also have a chicken farm nearby and it is killing and eating them too. We have also had many other animals such as quails, ducks and geese. I would love it if you could suggest a way to remove them from the area non-violently as we wouldn't like to kill them. They are also too quick to catch and are nocturnal so its a pest. Thank you.

1:12 Look at his face! Aw He seemed so scared. He just wanted to escape and most animals don't realise they want to help. But these animals are wild and not meant to be caged. The mostly realise they're trying to help when they rescue them and be gentle and decide to trust them and then the fox wouldn't get back out until he / she realised the was free. She / he just seemed scared and sad and lost you do a good job at saving them and THANK YOU ! For doing so!

I have one living in the back of my property and he has two other places he goes. I am not sure what to do. I have two dogs and a cat and three horses. I'm not worried about the horses. He seemed a little tame - came over to me in the dark at 4:30 a.m. when I was feeding my horses and fortunately I had the hose filling their water barrels and sprayed in his direction because he was coming over to me. Not sure what to do.
