I think Dominion realized they spent a bunch of money on a weak 1st Amendment case, and realized losing would cost them a lot more, because then they'd have to pay all of FOX News' legal expenses. Dominion is the accuser, it is up to them to drop a case, not the accused. I think it is clear, they got cold feet after hearing a bunch of law experts say FOX News would win. As soon as those text dropped and not one person at FOX News said anything about knowing it was a lie, but they would run with it anyway, it became apparent to every sane person that Dominion was grasping at straws. They were literally even saying things in the interviews that was telling viewers that this was not their opinion. Tucker was literally the person on air that told Powell her theory was nonsense and called her a liar. The case was basic, they were trying to sue FOX News because some quacks came on their network and said a bunch of nonsense, that FOX News actually called them out for, and told them they were wrong. Just look it up, Tucker told them live on air that they were lying. Again, very weak case!

Hey all - I’m a lawyer commenting, for all the people upset that Dominion settled. 50% settlement before trial is often an excellent result. Dominion will get their money faster, there’s a guaranteed outcome (no playing with chance or uncertainty) and dominion saves on further legal costs. They also seem to have negotiated for fox to admit some liability, which is great. Second, courts and judges will often apply lots of pressure for the parties to settle before trial - it can even be a condition of trial to have made a sincere attempt to settle before trial. This is especially for cut-and-dry cases. The courts should be reserved for instances where a serious question of law or fact should be determined.

@@MobileDecay no, that Law Firm was so brilliant to do what he did, which is to make a motion for summary judgment, take out all the facts into the public. They would never have gotten this offer without that public and that was a proper process, they also we’re looking at potentially not getting the full amount from the jury or having an appellate court reduce it so it’s called game theory and this was a spectacular win and they had principal and accountability in mind too and the truth got out, so really this is a great day for democracy.

They knew that Powell and Lindell were crazy but they repeated it anyway. They did it to protect their stocks. The LIE fueled the Insurrection on January 6th that nearly started a war. It incited their viewers to march on the US Capitol causing many people to be injured and five to be killed. Hundreds were arrested and convicted and have their lives ruined all because they believed a group of liars who did it for the money. They weren't lying about the weather for about some minor accusation, they were lying about our election and nearly started a war over it. Several hundred people were arrested and convicted many of them of serious crimes that will wreck their lives.
