Both being nocturnal animals and sharing the same turf, it’s not uncommon for foxes and skunks to forage together. Please know that skunks are generally easy-going; their first line of defense is to run away. If cornered, they’ll stamp their feet and hiss. Spraying is rare. It’s their last line of defense, as it takes several days to replenish the smelly chemical, during which skunks are vulnerable to predators. Plus, they eat insects and rodents and help with pest control.
