Hill Air Force Base pilot forced to eject from F-35, taken to medical center after crash

A pilot at Hill Air Force Base was forced to eject from his plane and taken to a medical center after a crash Wednesday.
Officials said an F-35 A Lightning II crashed at about 6:15 p.m. at the north end of the base runway.

Because that’s not the point of stealth. The point of stealth is to prevent the aircraft from being shot down, not to completely hide it from radar. The S-400 can detect the F-35 but we don’t know if it can achieve a strong enough radar lock to actually shoot it down.

only idiots think a 5th gen plane is supposed to be invincible and never crash. the amount of mishaps the F-35 has had is 5x less than the F-22 raptor. I mean what other fighter plane exists that you think has never had a mishap? the F-15 has had more mishaps per year than the F-35, Belgium ALONE has had more accidents with F-16s than there were accidents with the F-35, I mean I don't know what you expect. you can't have a perfect fighter jet because you can't make anything in this world perfect. the F-35's crash rate is far lower than any plane you believe is better.

Was this one of the pilots flying the $88 million dollar jet upside down over the densely populated city during practice, again? 🫢 I live by Hill Air Force Base and many are very concerned about safety. I seriously hope the military uses this to revamp safety protocols and HAFB. The base didn't make adequate plans for long-term growth, yet they increased flights and then brought in 78 of these lemon F-35's (well, one less now) starting in 2015 AFTER the population around Hill exploded. The last F-35 accident at HAFB was just 2 years ago when landing gear malfunctioned. Various footage of this latest crash shows densely populated neighborhoods by the remains of the smoking jet. There are too many jets at HAFB for such a densely populated area! Along with all the low, loud, and inverted practice flying over the city from the F-35 pilots which often remind me of an unsupervised 9-year-old boy on a sugar high, I see very little concern for public safety from HAFB base. The base poisoned Utah's water supply with PFAS forever chemicals and drags their feet on starting remediation while the plumes expand. Meanwhile, Col. Andrle is quoted saying, "These things happen" in response to a hundred million dollar crash within spitting distance of civilian neighborhoods. 😡 (Hard to believe someone could be so tone-deaf, I know, but see articles KSL - Flight restrictions over Hill Air Force Base canceled, investigation into F-35 crash continues and F-35A Crashes at Hill AFB; Pilot Safely Ejects article in Air&Space Forces Magazine) These same articles also talked about a Twitter plea from the 388th Fighter Wing to local citizens if they found crash debris.

@@filetminyion5302 Yup, I guess I should have expected an F‐35 to crash close to a neighborhood instead of trust the leadership and pilots at Hill Air Force Base to make wise decisions. 🤦‍♀️ The way they fly makes it seem like safety is an after thought at best. Besides, the lemon F-35's, one of the loudest jets in the military, are only at a handful of bases and arrived 5 ish years ago - looooong after the surrounding area was very densely populated. The sound of F-35's are literally deafening to entire cities given the proximity to Hill yet they decide to make the most flights here and embed two demo teams. All of the other states with the new F-35's have sued the air force base over noise. Droves of people are angry with the base after years of stalwart support. I no longer trust the base along with many others. Hill's leadership response? Make more fake social media accounts to try to spread bogus support....and crash an F-35 in people's backyard and call it a "mishap".
