The fact that she had to stand there and report on a shooting at her son's school knowing he could possibly be hurt is mind-boggling to me. She shouldn't have been put in that situation

I saw the pain she was holding back. Although, her son said he was okay he was not. none of those teenagers are okay. processing a school shooting & making it out alive is a tough one to overcome.

@@gibraltar0553 How would it be professionalism you can’t train for that, that is not in any journalism course that exist. Typically as a journalism major they will teach you how to write. It does not cover that. Even if your job is to deal with high pressure situations, such as being a trauma surgeon. If your wife, daughter/family member is brought into the ER you do not operate on them. You would be considered emotionally compromised. That policy also extends to friends and colleagues.

Her voice wasn't nearly as steady as it was before he came out, she looked like she was going to burst into tears. She probably cried after she was done. Just because she left him alone for a couple of seconds doesn't mean she cares more about her job then her son.

Man she's got her voice and everything under control until she sees her son is ok. And then everything comes crumbling out of sheer relief. So glad she was able to reunite with her kid and that he was safe. It's an absolute shame that something like this is becoming more and more commonplace, because it shouldn't. For the sake of those kids, and the health of their parents. No one should fear sending your kid to school. Especially when we're in an economy that doesn't give most parents the option to home school them.

Having lost my own son in a shooting accident (not a school shooting, and the person who shot him was absolutely not at fault), I can imagine the terror this mother went through until she saw and talked with her son. There's nothing worse in the physical world than being told your child, no matter their age, has been injured beyond recovery....absolutely nothing.

I think I speak for everyone when I say that we will standby for a couple of seconds while you hug your son during a very scary situation. I'm a former deputy sheriff and I definitely understand the importance of keeping emotions in check while you are doing your thing, but pushing the pause button on your parenting emotions is nearly impossible, especially when your kid needs you. Was pretty obvious he needed his mom for a second.

She hugged her son and was glad that he made it out of the shooting that happened at his school unscathed. It doesn’t make it any less emotional because “half of the parents go through it”.

It seems that the general consensus was that she was worried the news agency might take it a bit harshly on her for acting out of character while reporting so she apologized to her colleagues and the news company that was getting this footage because she was worried she was acting unprofessionally because her son wanted comfort from his mother who was busy. It’s unfortunate that news companies are like this, but we at least should be thankful it didn’t seem to happen with this particular reporter.

Kudos to her for even being able to report the story so well. As a mom in America we know how dangerous schools are and she was living one of our worst fears live on air and held it together to make sure the proper news got out to the public and other parents who needed to know their child was ok too. I don’t think I could be that composed in that situation.

@@Yuli_Rose Two words Gun Control In Denmark we have had two mass shootings in 45 years. We have gun killings, yes, but they’re deeply inside the criminal groupings. And we have plenty of hunters too. They’re just not allowed to buy a gun without first taking a course and pass an exam. The same goes more or less for competition shooting.

Loved how she can put her parenting aside for a bit knowing her child is safe, it takes courage. Especially when her duty at THAT moment is to give the families who aren’t there physically news and updates on their children.

that’s the strongest woman I’ve ever seen. Her baby walked out of a school shooting and she stood there on the verge of tears still doing her job, it’s just insane and mind blowing to me how she can just stand there not tearing up but wanting to cry. Amen for her and her family.

My school is this schools rival and I kid you not this school had 2 shootings in the same YEAR. First incident was a student getting shot in his car but this city is genuinely so shitty and dangerous. Students from all schools in Denver had a walk out and went to government buildings demanding for more control over fire arms but they didn’t do shit, it was super discouraging to see

You see here on screen that this conservative family was left intact and conservative. If the boy had been killed today, this reporter would magically become concerned about gun violence in schools. A lot of people cannot afford 'empathy' and we have to wait until the bullets hit home. Not that empathy COSTS anything, mind you. I mean the conservative world view cannot stomach any empathy whatsoever. If that kid had died, they'd be investigating his lifelong behavior.

@@TouchofDepth Did I say the government should ban them? Of course they won’t go away even if we do, ex. Prohibition act. We need better regulation. Unfortunately you can’t just trust “good people” to use their guns for good. Not to mention the gun owners who leave theirs lying around for their mentally disturbed children to grab them and use to THEIR will. I have nothing against gun owners who lock theirs securely away from others unless they are using it, or people who do no harm to others and have one only for self defense. Hell, I’d be fine if teachers could concealed carry. It’s too easy to buy a gun in the US, though, and you unfortunately can’t just trust randos with firearms just because they’re outwardly a good person.
