Min wage 15 an hour. That's 600 a week before taxes. 2400 a month. 30% of 2400 is 720. If we expect everyone to have a roof. All areas, rich and poor have to have places available to rent for 720 a month. But the rich want the poor to drive an hour or two to get into their areas to work at 6 dollars a gallon and still pay 2k for rent. This is not going to end well.

You better look into moving to a foreign country before you leave. You can't just "go" there and live, you have to have jobs, money a sponsor to work and live there. It takes a LOT of money to migrate to other countries. People think it is ONLY the United States that have fees to migrate, NOPE, every Country has them. So you best do your due diligence and don't make hasty decisions. Another thing, South Korea has had affordable housing issues even BEFORE the pandemic, so again, you need to research and research long and hard, and DO not take someone's WORD on anything. The rules and laws of immigration for every country are pretty strict and you have to meet all of the criteria.

Standup against what? Landlords own property and rent to people to make enough money to pay mortgages, maintenance, property taxes, and other expenses. They also need to make some money, why else would they rent? The government needs to stay out of what property owners do with their own property. Landlords need tenants to make money, if no one rents their units, they lose money. So, apparently there are a lot of people that can afford rent. Personally, I wouldn't rent to the people in this story for a number of reasons. They need to move somewhere they can find jobs and afford rent, not everyone can afford to live in Florida.

This is very sad. Could this couple rent a 3 or 4 bedroom house or apartment and live in the living room? They could share with 3 or 4 individuals or families and let them take the 3 or 4 bedrooms. I only suggest this because my wife and I bought a 5 bedroom house in an expensive area of the San Francisco Bay Area. My wife and 3 kids moved into one bedroom (5 of us sharing 1 bedroom) and rented out 4 bedrooms. I'm a software engineer and my wife has a masters degree. The people and/or families that have rented our bedrooms over the years have included research scientists, associate professors, visiting professors (to UC Berkeley), nurses, grad students at UC Berkeley or Mills College, and other professionals. When our kids buy their first house in the heart of Silicon Valley they already know to move into the laundry room and rent out all bedrooms and possibly the living room too. In our case we had to live like this for more than 2.5 years before we were in a position to take over the entire house with no need for renters and our 3 kids getting their own bedroom.

@@Sarah-lb8cs - I'm really sorry to hear about your financial struggle. I can only imagine how frustrating it is to not be getting ahead as the years go by. I don't know your situation, but would getting roommates be possible as a temporary solution, say trying this for one year? Suffering for 1 year sucks but if I know it will end I find it somewhat bearable. If you could rent a 3 bedroom apartment or house and split three ways (or 4 ways and you convert the living room) then your portion of rent will be less than you pay now for your 1-bedroom. You're probably not in a position to be the only person on the lease, but assuming you can figure out a way to be responsible for the full rent, you could even live almost rent free by living in the living room and your roommates take all 3 bedrooms (and they pay nearly all of the rent).

@donaldlee67602 жыл бұрын
@@cynthiaconner8601 - living in a house or apartment crammed full of roommates sounds like a terrible way to live, but after doing this myself it's not as bad as you would think. First this is temporary. When we bought our house we had (at the most) 11 people in our 5 bed/3 bath house. 5 of us were crammed into a single bedroom (me, my wife, and 3 kids). After about 2.5 years we were in a position that we could have taken over the other 4 bedrooms but we voluntarily choose to rent two bedrooms. It's been 10 years and even now we still rent 1 bedroom. We do this more for "giving back" then the need for extra rent money...because we no longer need the rent money. Before buying our house we rented a 950 sq-ft 2 bed/1 bath. At one point we had 7 people in that very small rental house - me, my wife, 3 babies, + 2 distant relatives that helped with our 3 babies in exchange for amazing job opportunities in the San Francisco Bay Area. I completely agree with you that the goal should be living with just your family in your house, but I think it's OK to live crammed up like goats for only a year, maybe two, if you really need to dig your way out of a big financial hole, save up for a down payment, or just need to save up a huge pile of cash as fast as possible. As you say, "...If it's good enough for a software engineer in Silicon Valley, it's good enough for America..."

When the cost of rent, food, gas and everything skyrockets but wages remain flat (except for owners, officers, board members, etc.), more people will be forced onto the streets or inside their cars. It’s getting to the point more and more working people can’t afford the cost of living.

@@tammyg8031 First of all the religious organizations are made up of tax paying citizens struggling to survive themselves. Churches don't have as many people attending as they did 30 years ago. @tammyg80312 жыл бұрын
@@MrShortWhiteGuy The religious organizations don't pay taxes on all the money they receive. They are CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS. There are many that DON'T EVEN GIVE BACK TO THEIR OWN MEMBERS. FOR EXAMPLE: The Jehovah's Witness CULT has NEVER GIVE to any of their members in need. The leadership begs for donations and is a Multi-billion DOLLAR COMPANY. Religion is a BUSINESS USING GOD'S WORD THE BIBLE FOR PROFIT. Religious institutions have an enormous amount of money 💰 their religious leaders live very high on the hog. Look at Joel Olsteen, TD Jakes, ect, ect ect...their members have GIVEN them money thinking its their way to SALVATION because they are brainwashed. CHURCHES AND RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS HAVE TONS. THE CATHOLICS AND MORMONS OWN TONS OF REAL ESTATE. JUST GOOGLE IT...WAKE UP PEOPLE. If government and religious organizations got together and put the people's money 💰 that they have received TOGETHER AS A WHOLE, A GREAT MANY OF THESE ISSUES WOULD BE SOLVED...HANDS DOWN.
