Once you join this religion you become captive to it. You can never change your mind and say "I dont want to be a jw any more" (for any reason) without being ostracised and shunned by by your JW friends and family. Lesson 58 of their interactive bible study course called "Enjoy Life Forever", which you will find on their literature carts and online says this: "What if someone we know has decided that he no longer wants to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses? It can be heartbreaking when someone close to us does this. That person may force us to choose between him and Jehovah. We must be determined to remain loyal to God above all else. So we obey Jehovah's command not to associate with such individuals " . According to the jws understanding of the biblical expression "stop associating with" that means to SHUN that person. So its clear jws are not only shunned for committing a serious violation against the bibles moral code, but the instruction from the leadership, who is considered as Gods channel, is to shun those who simply don't want to be a jw anymore.

Not everyone agrees .. my conversation with a Mormon over this matter shed light into the topic on cults.. Mormons, Jehovahs Witnesses and Seventh Day Adventist are recognized by the UN 🇺🇳 as recognized religions.. the membership or believers of each one of these surpasses the numbers and time frame to consider anyone of them a cult. Now the evangelical etc denominations that follow a set of orthodoxy reject these same 3 denominations and consider them Christian cults because they “appear to be Christian but are not”..

Each government holds a different way of managing their approval or rejection in religions: China 🇨🇳 if your Christian of any denomination and you get caught you’ll get killed have your organs used in their hospitals. If your in Russia and you are not the in Orthodox Church they won’t accept your religions or you can end up in jail… Iran if you convert out of Islam your stone to death.. think about it different countries different rules.. JW have legally being recognize by Europe as a religion and Russia is not going by that ruling..

I was baptized a Jehovah’s Witness at 14. I decided it wasn’t for me at 17 and left at 18. I was kicked out of my home with a week’s notice. My mom gave me a brochure for a youth homeless shelter because I was having a hard time finding a home on such short notice. This was on instruction from church leaders. Those same leaders then hounded me at work for months until I formally left the organization. I’ve seen my parents once since then, as they’re instructed to shun former members.

Many people are forced to pretend to be believers because if they don’t they will be shunned by everyone they know and love. I am currently one of these people. I didn’t do anything wrong, I just want to live my life, but this religion does whatever it can to make your life hell if you even think about leaving. This one of the many reasons JW’s are considered a high control group cult.

The decision not to have beards stems from the fact that they became to be associated with sloppiness by many cultures. Hence Jehovah’s witnesses ceased wearing them to maintain a clean appearance as Christians. However, in more recent years beards have once again become socially acceptable which is why a lot of witnesses men are now growing their beards out. Let it be duly noted that it was always a personal decision to have a beard. The majority chose not to so they wouldn’t bring any reproach on the organization when it came to their appearance.

I have been around and partaking in countless different groups of religions from all over the world. Jehovah’s witnesses are the best imperfect group of people I have ever known. We are all capable of sin. We are imperfect, and I know for a fact they do not shun family members for not having the same beliefs. If anything, they show them more love. They are the only and closest Christian religion that supports Jesus Christ as their king. Many times Jehovah’s Witnesses are Misunderstood from outsiders that don’t give them the time of day to really find out. Much easier that way isn’t it to believe nasty rumors. The exposure of false teachings in the Bible like hellfire etc, the teaching that God would support any world war today is nonsense. They shine a light on the only one path that leads to a loving creator God.

I spent 2 years in a Bible study with them before I read the Bible for myself and realized I was being told lies about the God who created me. I prayed fervently for the truth to be revealed to me for two weeks straight before God sent a Christian to direct me to some true believers. Not to mention witnesses are all over the world unlike peoples temple that were local and moved as a church to a dif country… witnesses are citizens working in all sectors: education, government, production, translators, etc.. 9. Witnesses beliefs can be traced back hundreds or even some thousands of years before the Watchtower was ever formed, for example 2nd temple Judaism ✡️ -that is before the council of nicea, or establishment of the Roman Catholic Church we find “the doctrine of agency” where people would represent God, in voice, command and in bearing his name and they would speak as if it was him. Jehovah’s Witnesses are not allowed to stand for the national anthem or pledge of allegiance. I hope that everyone who was ready to boycott the sport because of players kneeling/not standing during the anthem before NFL games are equally upset about this organization’s cult recruitment efforts at the game as well. Watch them as the anthem plays. They do not vote and do not serve in the military or in law enforcement. They only serve their religion, not the public or society. They’ll say it’s serving g*d, but they are in service to 9 men in New york who call all the shots. They also do not allow their children to participate in any extracurricular activities (if they are following the rules, Serena Williams wasn’t baptized until after she retired and was given many privileges not given to others because she was seen as a recruitment tool). So their kids can’t play football and are discouraged from even watching sports. Being a “super fan” of a sports player or team is seen as a form of idolatry and would be counseled against. Sundays are for attending meetings and field service/ministry. Anything that takes time away from serving the organization is seen as a waste of time at minimum or could be labeled as becoming “worldly” (you are to remain “no part of this world”) and could lead to eventual loss of privileges or disfellowshipping, which means your entire family and community will shun you. There are far worse things about the organization, as already covered extensively in this comment section. As an exjw, i wanted to point out the blatant hypocrisy of these issues though as they directly relate to the venue.

Many have already pointed out the CSA in these comments, which is obviously the most egregious offense that needs to be exposed. Google australian royal commission 1006, then look up pennsylvania jw abuse. Their two witness rule and refusal to cooperate with police on csa investigations, including forcing the courts to fight every redaction line by line (of actual confessions made by those harming children) which takes years and a lot of money in legal fees, plus sending their own lawyers to defend abusers has created a safe haven for perpetrators. There are so many harmful practices like shunning and allowing children to die from refusal of blood transfusions. They believe the end of this system (current world as we know it) is imminent and as such take no part in trying to make this world a better place EXCEPT to recruit people to their high control “religion”. They see that as the only hope in life… the NEXT life, aka the “new system”. Growing their numbers, that’s the goal of this “volunteer” campaign. No other volunteer projects are considered a good use of time as all energy should be focused on the next life (Paradise). I grew up in this organization and facilitate a support space for survivors of their abuse. Like most JWs, i studied the bible daily and at one point, could recite just about any verse/passage from memory. I lived and breathed their indoctrination. I did not break any rules and still live a very morally upstanding life. Wasn’t disfellowshipped, but thankfully was able to escape by learning about OTHER cults and recognizing the same patterns and control tactics used. This ploy is completely hypocritical to the alleged values that they hold and enforce on members. It is a publicity stunt and is completely self serving to the organization only

It is indeed a faith based religion like any other, who ask for Holy Spirit, and are trying to live their faith. Can JW's Donate blood? -No. Okay, so if you can't donate blood, why can you use blood fractions coming from people donating blood. Where in the bible does it allow fractions as a conscience matter and platelets as forbidden? But if the governing body said it's ok, then overnight your beliefs will change. Just like growing a beard. In 1920 it was ok. 2020 it was wrong. Now it's ok again. If the bible didn't change then it's only the GB interpretation that changed which all jw just follow mainly from fear of social repercussions. And that's the problem. You can't think for yourself. And this is exactly why the JWs have lost all the money in child abuse lawsuits as they followed what the leadership has directed them to call the branch first instead of going to the authorities first. In fact your own GB Geoffrey Jackson was in front of the courts being misleading in the Australian royal commission. I could go on but as per the GB controlling instructions you're not meant to look up anything negative about JWs. Jesus is saying unless you believe I am the Yahweh who spoke to Moses in the burning bush, you will die in your sins.
