Three suspects wanted for allegedly shooting and killing 45-yea-rold William Alvarez on a D train in the Bronx were arrested Monday, as concerns over increasing crime on New York City's subway system grow.

The problem is that the things that regular people actually care about aren’t on the ballot. The shelter law that the migrants are exploiting for example have been in place since the 1979 in the case Carey v Callahan and the right to shelter for example. It was originally intended so that homeless people (which mind you consists LARGELY of veterans especially at that time we were coming out of not only WW2 but also Vietnam) would be guaranteed help at a shelter if they needed it. NEVER could they have foreseen at the time that people would literally start coming from other countries to exploit it. Gotta keep in mind traveling back then wasn’t as easy as it was today and immigration simply wasn’t a major political issue at the time. HOWEVER, the mayor is so full of crap however that when it was perceived as good for optics he tried to use the term “sanctuary city” as if it was something that he did when it had been the law for almost 45 years. As soon as it became bad press he changed his tune when in reality the actual laws that are being exploited have nothing to do with him and there isn’t much he can do unless they try to overturn the decision at a higher court. This is why people need to learn history instead of getting all of their information from social media.

Do any of you realize Judges and DA”a have to follow the laws as written. Bitch to the legislature and the Governor. Judges can’t arbitrarily sentence someone to a much harsher sentence than what state law allows or deny bail if the law specifically says he can’t. D.A.’s also have to follow the law in their prosecutorial roles. But also, there has long been a culture of closing out cases and “wins” are more often it seems, more important than justice. It ultimately will come down to the a public to send what message they can at the ballot box…but it needs to be towards the Mayor’s office and the legislature.
