My social security number was stolen and a tax return was filed using my number in Texas...and I live in West Virginia!! I caught it when I filed my return in 2012. They just let someone file a return without having to prove who they are. But I had to prove who I was when I went to inform the IRS!!! And they did nothing about the person that stole it. They said it happened all the time and rarely did the perpetrators get charged.

I have had an illegal using my SS# for 26 years and the government knows and doesn't care! Know why they don't want to do anything about it? Because payroll taxes paid into the system under my SS# that come from the illegal, is kept by the government. It doesn't show up on my social security benefits retirement benefits calculator. So though he has almost ruined my credit a few times, that is just my problem as far as the government is concerned. The money paid into social security using my social security number, I don't see any benefit. It's a ponzi scheme, the government collects all the benefits!

Not hard for me to imagine! I couldn't get information for the person that stole my identity, no matter how hard I tried. Couldn't file charges against them for it either. They purchased a house, new car, racked up tons of bills in my name which I had to pay it all back. Took me years to undo majority of the damage. And the way i found out was by mistake when I went to see an attorney regarding a totally different issue. Yep, you guessed it, that happened right here in "good ol'" Milwaukee Wisconsin.

When someone is using your identity you should have every last right to find out who it is and end it. Even get the Sheriff local to them to visit them and take back everything that was bought with your name. It is all stolen from you anyway since it was your name used to buy it and thus it *is* your rightful property. Also how would you ever get back all of the money or get your credit straightened out? Also could you file for bankruptcy and tell them to go to the thief and confiscate all of his property to sell? It is just beyond horrible when someone does these things to another person. I would not want to be that lying thief when my time comes to meet Jesus!! That thief will sooner or later and he will be there for it whether he wants to or not. When I found out the cellphone company, Sprint, would not cooperate with law enforcement to go after the crook. He was denied 2 times before he finally recieved his DUE AFTER HE HAD WORKED & Paid into it. We also have issues with Americans getting benefits THEY DON'T NEED! Such a shame that things CREATED to help humans are often used by criminals. Anyhow i hope you are at least less stressed now that you have your benefits. Oh yeah also i lost anything of value i owned just to survive & pay medical cost while waiting& my credit went in the toilet. Very difficult to dig my way out. I'm going to that right now it really sucks I had to report everything to a fraud company I now have to call Social Security and report my security card as stolen and ask for a new Social Security card I've been having multiple people call saying I have open accounts and they need authorization to pay for the shipping of what was ordered I've never been on that page to order anything or use that company I denied the order and the shipment to be going out it really does suck doing this like my information in like four different states I have no clue who got my information

I did not know this until i was admitted to the hospital. And the er dr ask me if i had family in the area i said no why he just admitted some. One with.
