Fully welding in Scott Rod Inner Skirt Panel
Project EgoBruise is getting a smooth engine bay! My experience installing Scott rod inner fender skirt panel, and replacing / repairing frame channel rust from battery corrosion. I decided to fully weld them in, which looks nice, but can easily warp the panels. This install took longer than expected because of rust and frame channel repair from battery corrosion. Either way project is slowly chugging along.

Appreciate it Mike. It truely is a ton of work lol, tri-pods, cards filling up, mic turned off, batteries dying. Then making 4 hours of vid into 20 minutes of something understandable. I still love it otherwise I wouldnt do it, but yes, my engine would likely be done if I wasnt filming it!

I know I am late to the game on your channel but I am curious. Are you using flux core or Mig to weld in these panels? I need to frame repair as well and I am trying to see if I need to get a dedicated flux welder or possible Mig
@HOUSEOFDULA
@HOUSEOFDULA 2 жыл бұрын
MIG. Always use mig if you cam, flux "works" for "just get it stick together" projects, like on a farm, but not for auto sheet metal, really need gas to get anything decent. I started using MIG over flux and will never go back to flux.

I have such a gap where the bottom panel meets the frame rail. Like you said in the video, the frame rail curves but mine seems more curved than yours (1993). I can actually stick my fingers in between the panel and rail. Any suggestions?
@HOUSEOFDULA
@HOUSEOFDULA 2 жыл бұрын
Mine we're the same way. I just massaged the lip on the frame rail with a hammer to make the welding spot a little straighter. Then the rest of the gap, when I started tack welding the panels on I just tapped the scott rod panels lip to close the rest of the gap.
@robsmith5988
@robsmith5988 2 жыл бұрын
@@HOUSEOFDULA Thanks.. I will give it a try. I have the frame rail covers as well so that might help out with the gap too. I think the biggest challenge is gonna to be removing the sway bar brackets and all 20 spot welds lol. Thanks again your videos are a huge help.

Man that depends on a lot, T-5 or auto, boost or no boost, tire size, etc. If its stock-ish with bolt-ons just run a 3.73's. Both my foxes will run a 3.73, but its not the best IMO for a manual trans and trying to build boost, 1st is almost useless with my On3 car.
