foxbody mustang 351 windsor swap

Just the basics of a 351 fox body swap and yes the engine mounts transfer over from 302 to 351 and back... 351w needs 157 tooth 28 ounce imbalance flywheel, short headers, and fox body oil pan

I did a junk yard dog conversion. 351 into a 408 into an 80 Capri 5 speed and 411 gears in rear. Did it all with over the counter parts. Oil pan I used was for a 79-88 crown Vic with Windsor. I made headers from shorty's to fit around steering shaft. Tires delete themselves in rear .

A Panther body 351W oil pan looks almost exactly the same as the Ford Racing foxbody 351W conversion oil pan. A hundo off RockAuto.

I had an 87’ hatch I did a heads cam intake build on. Nothing huge, 360 bhp roughly. Was gonna just do 351 but I thought with the extra height it would be a pain in the ass to shoehorn it in there and run the stock hood. Cowl hood wasn’t an option. Looks mint!

As for denting the driver side header, you might be able to get the clearance by unbolting the column in the car and moving it outwards.

A young man here is a real simple way to tell you how you can tell 351 from 302. A 302 timing cover is even with the deck and a 351 is a inch taller over timing cover.

I mighta considered leaving the OEM fuel pump in place and use a fuel pressure regulator that can send fuel back to the tank. Like a Holley uh, 12-803BP By-Pass Regulator... butt, the work is done now so,

The 351w swap not that hard truck oil pan pick up tube really the hard part is how much you want to spend for a good set of headers same thing doing a 302 302 headers are cheaper I had made 302 headers fit the 351w swap many times.. if your going efi use truck distributor that has the pip made on use swap 302 steel gear if the 351w roller cam 351w swap has been made over complicated. The downfall to a 351 Windsor swap if going efi the cost of the intake end of it speed cost how fast you want to go the 5.0 bracket will fit the 351w with a small mod

Yes...speedo works off of transmission, tach uses 1 wire from factory harness so no change

@@captaindipchit The stock hood is on my 351w swapped 1985. I cut the brace from the center of the hood and put washers between the hinges and hood. It sat lower with convertible mounts, but I am running solid mounts now and its slightly higher. The air cleaner hits the bottom of the hood. I am running a stock dual snorkel air cleaner and a Pro Comp dual plane intake (Weiand Stealth knock-off)
