Thanks for the video. I'm considering one of these instead of paying for a dyno tune because I ultimately have plans on more changes. Currently running a V2SI at 12psi max boost and a GT40X Ford racing crate motor. I put the car away in 2012 and it seemed to be lacking power from what I remembered so I put a new fuel system and blower on the car. It runs good but the low end just doesn't seem as it should. All compression readings check out. I suspect computer or tuning is needed. Ultimately I'm going 363 W/AFR 205 heads and the same Vortech blower so I'm not interested in spending money on a tune for this current combination. How was the tech support on this product? I am a former ASE technician and good with electrical but lack any tuning knowledge so that is my worry. Located in CT if any other fox people have suggestions.
@Mustang-Geek4 жыл бұрын
Tech service from Holley is pretty typical: make sure you follow their instructions, otherwise they're going to tell you to install it exactly as instructed first. Take your time with the wring and double-check everything before starting the car and you'll be fine. There really isn't much "tuning" required. Just messing with the settings a little to make it run the way you want.

@SmokedTirez3 жыл бұрын
Your info on static timing is a lil misleading..When you go into the setting on the handheld its only used for verification purposes...When you shut off the key that setting is lost...The way the system is supposed to be setup is by setting the balancer to 10* BTDC then aligning the skinny blade on the reluctor wheel on the TFI distributor with the inductive pickup aligned dead-on or just slightly behind of where the #1sparkplug wire is placed in the rotation on the distributor cap..... If you want 15* as your base for your TFI setup you need to set the balancer to 15* and possibly phase in your rotor too.. Then the distributor gets locked down and then you unplug your fuelpump fuse and pull up the idle table up on the handheld and crank the engine to see of rpm's are being registered...If rpm's are being registered you then put the fuelpump fuse back in then turn key on to open the wizard and pull the static timing checker up. You then can use 15* as a timing reference on the handheld ..You set the 15* number on the handheld and even though the balancer is set to 10* on your application [30* on my application with a 45* pickup reference] when the timing light hits the balancer it will or should read 15*... Also verify timing accuracy at rpm's up to 4000 to see if the mark stays on the money if it waivers you need to adjust the settings in milliseconds to get the curve to jive.. If the mark is off on the 15* mark at idle you adjust distributor then you may need to phase the pickup using an octane rod assortment pack....If you think Im wrong ask a Holley tech.....He will verify but never tell you this outright as in being forthcoming... It took me a few hours of learning through watching Holleys Sniper setup vids to learn how to use the lingo to coax the info out of a Holley tech on how to properly phase in my MSD ProBillet Distributor which utilizes a magnetic pickup that needs to be set with a 45* reference angle..Nowhere in my universal instructions does it remotely state any of this as its bare bones and the money saved is supposed to go to help supporting a fellow tuner is its not as novice friendly as they lead it to believe.The tech says to use a 45-60 degree initial balancer setting for utilizing a magnetic pickup and 50* reference angle for a dual spark distributor....If you dont get the distributor set right youll experience failed injectors or an overheated ECU that will eventually fail like a TFI module does so if you set your distributor to 10* BTDC thats your timing for the TFI system and where your static timing is really set when the 15* is not commanded on the handheld for timing light verification purposes only and not meant to be driven on.....Good Luck
@Mustang-Geek3 жыл бұрын
A factory TFI distributor should not need to be phased. The idea is to simply make sure that the timing the Terminator is commanding is reflected in the motor. This is the same as pulling the SPOUT and setting the distributor to 10 degrees...only with the Holley, you can set the "check timing" to any setting you want.
@rleey072 жыл бұрын

Did you create your own target fuel map or use the Holley base file?
@Mustang-Geek2 жыл бұрын
I stated with the Holley base file, but smoothed the cells around my hot idle point so the A/F ratio changed less. This helped stabilize the idle.
@DarkFoxx886 ай бұрын
If you set your timing at 15 degrees then why did it say ignition timing was at 12 degrees when idling? Also what’s the difference of ignition reference angle which Holley has it set at 10 degrees and the cranking timing which Holley has that set at 15 degrees?
@Mustang-Geek6 ай бұрын
Good questions. The 12 degrees you see is what the terminator X's ignition map is using at idle. It also varies ignition timing to stabilize idle. In order to "synchronize" the distributor to the terminator X, I *chose* to run the car with 15 degrees of timing. The timing does NOT change in that mode. Then, I used a timing light so the *actual* ignition timing matched 15 degrees. That way, the Terminator X knows when it is commanding 12 degrees (or whatever value it wants), that's exactly what the engine is actually seeing. Does that make sense?

Great videos, much appreciated but could you clear a couple things up for me if you wouldn’t mind.1st- I’ve got my battery in the hatch, using an inline fuel pump. I just switched from megasquirt. Have a stand-alone relay for my fuel pump in the hatch using the switches power wire from the stock FP relay under the seat. Where should I hook the green wire from the terminator? Connect to dark green/yellow wire on relay or could I connect it to the 8 pin green connector by kick panel? 2nd- I don’t have the stock harness anymore can I just splice switched 12v from the ignition switch RED/LIGHT GREEN wire for the ECU and the +coil? Or do they need to be separate? Thank you in advanced

I saved that diagram last night, thank you. So I can just connect both the coil and 12v switch together and them on ignition switch or keep them separate?
@brandonwhite87114 жыл бұрын
Also since I have a relay in the hatch for my fuel pump, would I be using the Holley relay to switch the rear relay on to power pump?
@Mustang-Geek4 жыл бұрын
A couple things 1) Regarding the fuel relay under the seat: are you USING the relay under the seat to provide power to your relay in the trunk, or are you BYPASSING the relay under the seat to provide power to your relay in the trunk? 2) Regardless, the green wire from the Holley harness has 12V+ power when the Terminator wants the pump to run. So, you could connect the green wire to the green wire under the seat OR connect it to the red wire at connector 216 like the video and the schematic above. NOTE: not sure what year your car is, but connector 216 on mine is grey (and has the air bag sensors on it as well). Leave your other relay in place or bypass it, it won't matter. Keep in mind that if you leave your other relay in place, you'll have two relays powering the fuel pump, so if there's ever a problem, you'll have to check BOTH relays. 3) The 12V+ switched on my car does not need to be separate. See schematic above. My wires were literally spliced together from the factory, and it works great.
