I know this is a older video but incase people do not know, the loop should be behind the drive shaft weld. There is two weak points, first is the u joint second is the weld area. If you would like more info on that look up Tim McAmis on youtube he has a good video explaining that. Awesome video take care..

Appreciate that man. I always just assumed that the U joints were always the weak link, never seen or thought about the weld. Makes sense!

NHRA says 6 inches behind center of front universal cup. Also, could you have extened the loop and welded it to your subframe connector? Just currious. I don't want to drill though my floor. Thank you Sir.

About the 6 inches, I have located this. NHRA rules state that the loop must be installed NO MORE than 6 inches behind the front U-joint. Steeda states - The safety loop will need to be approximately 4” from the front u-joint.

Great vid. I already have a loop on mine so I wasn't gonna watch. But I say it was a longer video. I waa thinking maybe something went wrong. Thanks for showing the reality that some stuff just doesn't fit.

Yeah, my vids are always too long because its always something! and I don't want to cut details that might be of any importance to someone.

@@HOUSEOFDULA oh no don't cut them short. It was just me thinking on that one that is was long for me since I have the part installed already. But ypur vids are so good i will watch you install stuff I have installed!

Did you happen to notice vibrations on this driveshaft after say 55/60 mph. Once I hit like 65+ I get vibrations. Maybe I need to clock it?
@HOUSEOFDULA2 жыл бұрын
No, not from this safety loop. Vibrations could easily be wheel balance too. But if you have a vibration right after installing the safety loop would not hurt to try to mark it and rotate 180. See if the behavior changes, but I personally never have messed with marking and keeping driveshafts true to its install location.

I'm buying an '85 SVO. Should I install a safety loop? I don't plan on driving it hard.

Naaaa, just make sure U joints are healthy. I put mine in because some tracks require it with Drag radials.

The parking brake bracket will act like a pipe cutter on your drive shaft. Massage it with a ball peen hammer!
@Susieqfoxbody4 жыл бұрын
I was going to do this but I run an x pipe so that will actually catch it if it fails. But yea if it’s a track rule then I’d definitely do it.

Looks good I’ve been wanting to do a loop for a while. Good heads up on the steeda piece. What size are your wheels I forget. Someone’s selling 2 new 17x9s locally for 150$ chrome. Seems too good to pass up. I need some normal wheels instead of drag radials and skinny’s all the time.
@HOUSEOFDULA4 жыл бұрын
That 20 bucks is worth it for fitment. Mine are all 17x9 on all 4
