I'm small landlord with one 2 family house and my tenant has not paid since December 2019 and have multiple unknown people living in the apartment since Nov 2019. We gave everyone notice to vacate through lawyer to leave the house by April 2020 but the unknown people still here till today. So far I've lost 40k $. Where is justice.

I've always been a tenant, I have battled many landlords and slumlords but I've always paid my rent and on time. the problem with this is that you will only further restrict the market. People are going to take their properties off the market and prices for available units will sky rocket. The people benefiting from this are ONLY hurting themselves and people like me. I have friends in this state that are still getting unemployment and say they don’t get enough to pay rent (even though they’re making more off of unemployment then they were working) yet they’re constantly going on vacations and blowing the money uncontrollably.

That didn't work in an eviction court in Ohio. Tenants didn't even show up to the Zoom hearing to be challenged for their Covid hardship claim, even though we testified to the fact they did not lose their income. Case was shelved allowing the monsters to stay until they finally were evicted and only because the Northern District Federal Judge ruled against the moratorium eviction ban in March. Those monsters destroyed the property.

A landlord pours their savings into properties, fixes them up, pays taxes, insurance and is being forced to to subsidize housing to people gaming the system, saving all this rent money with no plans to ever pay it back. The gov has enabled massive theft, this is criminal. Rents will increase a lot and landlords will require a lot more security deposits and screen tenants a lot harder after this. Back in 2018 we got a letter from a new landlord saying they brought the building from the old landlord The old landlord did not tell us he was selling the building The reasons for what he did it 3 different tenants in an apartment next to us for some reason or another not paying the rent and the city keep raising the water bill Oh the new landlord didn’t tell us that they were not renewing the leases the people below us move out then the latest non paying tenants finally go kick out then we did in June but we’re were able to stay until August took a while to find a plan in NJ we left nyc for good We not going back to crazy nyc To see those tenants who are gaming the system to avoid paying rent boil my blood We were planning to stay in that old apartment in nyc until 2020 but it turn out to be a blessing Still we lost money in the moving we didn’t have time to plan I blame the tenants for our troubles

Lol same thing i was thinking. Thats why i said i can care less for the greedy type of landlords. They really thought after all of these years price gouging folks & intimidating tenants, mainly blk ones btw, to move out of their apartments that it wasnt gonna come back to them in some way. As bad as the pandemic may be, it also has exposed a lot of folks for who they really are.

What do you charge in rent? Yes, there are a lot of slack, pig-headed opportunists that will take a mile if you give them an inch BUT charging $850-$1000 for a 1- bdrm is highway robbery. I recently saw a vlog about a guy apt shopping around Soho - up to TEN THOUSAND dollars for a one bdrm!!! THAT IS TOTAL INSANE B.S.!! That landlord should be in jail for that! There needs to be a cap on the rental industry, nationwide, no matter the neighborhood.

If one can’t afford rent, they should find a shelter. Landlords mortgages need to be paid! They have bills and children also. The government don’t give them free money

When this all ends the landlords need to band together and start raising their rents by $300 a month more for these potential losses. Insurance companies and stores raise their prices to cover losses. Pass it onto the consumers.

The Federal Government over riding a legal binding contract between a lessor & leasee is absolute control. Each person has to abide by the lease contract. That's Fair Housing law. I've seen it all in my 30 years of property mgmt. You don't pay you don't stay. This is horrible for these landlords who have residents that want to live on someone else's dime

Big investors want the Landlords to sell them your properties. So people will have to rent and never own. I told my husband it isn't worth being a Landlord people tear up the property because they don't care. People suck. Pay your Bills and your Rent. It is your responsibility
