There are plenty of millennials that have quietly knuckled down and gotten to work trying to repair the damage caused by policies and decisions made by the previous generations. Not easy either given their lack of stewardship, awful parenting decisions and advice. But here we are, being blamed for the failings of others.
@sticks56145 жыл бұрын
@ It's a fair comment I suppose but as I ended up suffering the abuse from a woman with a Narcissistic personality disorder along with my son we might, just might mind you be in a better position to make that call on our position. Now, I'm sure there are some really conscientious millennial's who've made something positive with their lives just as some people in my age group are what we used to call "wasters", nobodies perfect and WE all make mistakes and I'm sure I did with my daughter but that's with the benefit of hind-sight and as we all know that's 20-20 vision, but knuckling down and getting to work "trying to repair the damage caused by policies and decisions made by the previous generations" and saying it isn't easy either "given their lack of stewardship, awful parenting decisions and advice" is what the Millennial journalist Alexis Bloomer is saying. If we made mistakes we're sorry but don't whine about it, try and fix it!

Thats why when you look around you see fat, mean, aggressive women and scrawny, scared, confused young men. Example: During WW2 you had young men lying about their age to get into the service to fight the Germans. Now, you can't get a 30 year old man out of his single mothers basement to get a job and put the weed down, let alone be a leader of men and stand for something greater than himself. Especially when there is opposition telling that young man that he should be ashamed of the testosterone in his body. Very confusing times right now for a young man in the US. Now worth 500k. Financially sorted for retirement. My final salary pension is stopped, they can't afford them anymore, I need to move and can't sell my house, due to brexit (which boomers voted for). David N In today's so called academia, "professors" teach that American has never been great and that we and Western Christian-Judeo values are to blame for every ill in world history. Michelle Obama's "First time in my adult like I am really proud of my country" remark is prime example of that prevailing mindset, even though she graduated from Princeton and Harvard law school and won a high paying Chicago job. Her attitude smacks of in gratitude which is the mantra passed down in higher education today, and through the political Leftist camp; an attitude such as this young lady is taking about.

You’re all taught to have an “experience” instead of producing results or producing anything of real value for the world. She is right.
@davidk70494 жыл бұрын
Your generation didn't have to receive any education beyond secondary school, you finished school, got a job in a factory and were able to use that income to buy a house, a car, raise 3 kids and often support a non-working spouse. That same factory job today pays enough to just about not live in poverty, our generation work our holes off to get masters degrees only to live paycheck to paycheck. You were born into an economy that values hard work, WE were born into an economy that only benefits sub-contractors and the 1%. The reality is that the traditional 9-5 DOES NOT WORK for millennials due to the economic situation that YOUR GENERATION has created for us. The reason we put value on having experiences is because we'll never be able to afford our own homes regardless. The same sense of life satisfaction boomers enjoyed is not available to us, so we seek satisfaction via other means.
@ranger8944 жыл бұрын
David K what? You’re timely I see. Stop whining and make something of yourself. Be productive at something. I’m not a baby boomer. You must not know what hard work is or living within your means. If you can’t enter working life debt free, it’s your fault because you made the choices. Typical of your generation, nothing is your fault, though. I understand. Where my generation went wrong was creating a fake world where everyone is a winner and no one loses. We’ve lied to you. That fault I will claim for my generation. I won’t claim it personally because my children have grown up and are productive. If you examine your life and can’t articulate where you are productive and contribute to society, I would declare you a failure to this point in life. But this is America. You can choose a different outcome for yourself. Consider yourself blessed that that is true.
@davidk70494 жыл бұрын
@@ranger894 Oh of course! Don't engage with any of my points, just berate me instead! What a great approach. Housing and education costs have tripled in the past 40 years while workers' wages have remained stagnant. Housing is virtually unattainable to our generation unless inherited. University wasn't a problem for me because I'm not American, so my education was free, but education is becoming more and more unattainable for Americans as the years pass. The issue here is the economic injustice left behind by your generation, but I suppose you don't want to engage with that. You just want to rant about us being lazy and failures. Charming.
@ranger8944 жыл бұрын
Hard to reply to any of your points when they are so totally off the mark personally and toward my generation. You started this interchange as though you know me and that I had some unfair advantage to my stage in life that you don’t have. You are simply wrong and fail to know how to take advantage of the opportunities you have. I conceded that my generation has failed to raise you properly because you hold an improper view that things are owed to you and you should never feel the hardships of failure. In my personal case we are blessed to have not done so with our children who are highly productive and active at making a contribution to society rather than demanding things and blaming me for your lack of ability to develop a beneficial character. Good luck to you.
